The Food Chain<br />
Feeding the fight against HIV<br />
<strong>GS1</strong> <strong>UK</strong> has always chosen to support charities<br />
through various fundraising efforts. Our staff<br />
are currently working alongside a fantastic<br />
charity ‘The Food Chain’ which exists<br />
to ensure people living with HIV can<br />
access the nutrition they need to get<br />
well, stay well and lead healthy,<br />
independent lives. We chose The<br />
Food Chain because we could see<br />
a clear link between our work in<br />
improving food supply chains<br />
and those who need access to<br />
good, nutritious food in order to<br />
improve their quality of life.<br />
The charity delivers meals and<br />
groceries, offers cookery and<br />
nutrition classes and communal<br />
eating opportunities to people<br />
living with HIV and their dependents.<br />
The charity delivered its first meal<br />
on Christmas day in 1988 having been<br />
established by friends of people living<br />
with HIV. Today, we work with the charity to<br />
raise money, get involved and support these people<br />
struggling to access good food.<br />
