Materials:<br />
Three colors of Caron Wintuk worsted weight yarn<br />
<strong>Crochet</strong> hook size G for 6” square (or size needed for<br />
gauge)<br />
<strong>Crochet</strong> hook size H for 7” square (or size needed for<br />
gauge)<br />
<br />
Gauge for 6” square: Rounds 1-3= 3 1/2” at widest point<br />
<br />
Gauge for 7” square: Rounds 1-3= 3 3/4” at widest point<br />
<br />
With color A, ch 5; join with a sl st to the first ch to form ring.<br />
<br />
Round 1: Ch 3 to count as the first dc, work 15 more dc in the<br />
ring; join with a sl st to the top of the beginning ch 3. (16 dc)<br />
Fasten off color A.<br />

shell, *(dc, ch 3 dc) in the next sc, sc in the center dc of the<br />

next shell* Repeat from * to * 6 times, (dc, ch 3 dc) in the next<br />
sc; join with a sl st to the first sc. Fasten off color C.<br />

Round 4: Attach color A with a sc in any ch 3 sp, 5 dc shell in<br />
the next sc, (sc in the next ch 3 sp, 5 dc shell in the next sc) 7<br />
times; join with a sl st to the first sc.<br />

Round 5: Attach color B with a sl st to any sc, ch 3 to count<br />
as the first dc, work 3 more dc in the same st, (sc in the center<br />
dc of the next shell, 7 dc shell in the next sc) 7 times, sc in the<br />
center dc of the next shell, 3 dc in the same st as first dc; join<br />
with a sl st to the back loop only of the top of the beginning ch<br />

the back loop of the same st, *trc in the back loop of each of<br />

round for the 6” square.)<br />

Round 9 (for 7” square): With color C, sc in each sc<br />
around, working 3 sc in the center sc of each corner. Fasten<br />
off. Weave in ends.<br />
Finishing (shown on 6” square): Attach color C with a<br />
slip st to any unworked front loop on round 6; sl st in each unworked<br />
front loop around; join with a sl st to the first sl st. Fasten<br />
off.<br />
Finishing variation (shown on 7” square): Attach color<br />
C with a slip st to any unworked front loop on round 6, ch 1;<br />
(sl st, ch 1) in each unworked front loop around; join with a sl<br />
st to the first sl st. Fasten off.<br />
