Tourism Dawson Creek created this program at no cost to
you, and especially for our travel trade partners. Our mission
with this program is to help you add value to your tour, create
a memorable time for your group in Dawson Creek and add
some hype to the start of the Alaska Highway experience.
Below is an introduction to our services that make up
Hiway Howdy!
• Welcome Bag
The Welcome Bag contains local and Alaska Highway info,
complimentary historic walking tour brochure and a Mile 0
Merchant Discount Coupon Book. (Note: Realizing that your
group does not want to be loaded down with print material, we
only include a few select bits of interesting reading and offer
1 bag per couple or single).
Save money shopping, dining or buying fuel
in the best of Dawson Creek’s eclectic
establishments
Museum parking lot, our staff member will do a brief step-on
welcome and orientation; present each person a Mile 0 Post pin;
and upon disembarking, offer the welcome bag and a personal
greeting with a handshake and a cheerful hello. Since inception
this welcome has also been very popular.
• Mile 0 Post Pin
For presentation at either option of the welcome program,
Tourism Dawson Creek offers a complimentary Mile 0 Post
pin for each member of your group.
• Mile 0 Merchant Coupon Book
Included in the welcome bag, the discount coupon book is
complimentary to the public. Your clients will save money
shopping, dining or buying fuel in the best of Dawson Creek’s
eclectic establishments.
Your welcome bags can be waiting at the RV Park/hotel
registration desk or delivered to the tour leader upon arrival.
Any unwanted print material can be immediately re-cycled at
the Visitor Centre or RV Park/Hotel front desks.
• Personal Welcome & PowerPoint Presentation
We feel that one of the best memories of a vacation is
meeting people! To add a very personal local touch to your
group’s arrival at Mile 0, schedule a fun and informative
complimentary welcome with a Tourism Dawson Creek
representative. Realizing there are many differences in
itineraries, there are 2 options to accommodate all group
travel.
Option 1: Overnite in Dawson Creek
This greeting that can be done at your breakfast or dinner
includes an entertaining and informational one-hour session
with a PowerPoint presentation full of historic stories and
archival photos. Concluding with Q & A, a Mile 0 Post pin
for everyone and some fun door prizes, this program has been
exceptionally well-received.
Option 2: Day Stop in Dawson Creek

Step-on Welcome
Travelers’ Certificates
• Travelers’ Certificates
Realizing that many travel a long way to get here to actually
start their intended vacation, these certificates celebrate the
individual’s arrival in Mile 0 City. Fax or e-mail names to us
and each certificate can be personalized and dated ready for
presentation upon arrival.
Prices for each are listed in Canadian funds, taxes included:
two-color (blue & white) $1.12
tri-color (red, white, blue) $2.24
The certificates are an inexpensive, well received and an easily
transported souvenir. Because the certificates are personalized
in advance, people are delighted with the element of surprise
and that your company provided a personal little extra.
*Tourism Dawson Creek will supply elastic bands to roll
certificates for easy packing.
• Tourism Dawson Creek Pre-Tour & On-Site Services
For one-stop shopping tour planning assistance at the local
level, Tourism Dawson Creek can arrange group transport,
meeting hall rentals and event tickets. All of these items can be
disbursed upon arrival by your tour leader via company check,
Visa, MasterCard, or American Express: AND anything else
we can help with!
