victory holding a laurel leaf over a monoplane, also with<br />

an interesting album of cuttings and photographs<br />

recording his flying exploits 1913-1916<br />

Footnote: W Birchenough was an extremely successful<br />

pioneer aviator giving various exhibitions and winning<br />

numerous prizes before 1914, his aviation experience<br />

made him too important to risk on active surface and he<br />

was employed my the military authority on duties at<br />
