Birchenough, Aprl 16th 1914, struck with the figure of
victory holding a laurel leaf over a monoplane, also with
an interesting album of cuttings and photographs
recording his flying exploits 1913-1916
Footnote: W Birchenough was an extremely successful
pioneer aviator giving various exhibitions and winning
numerous prizes before 1914, his aviation experience
made him too important to risk on active surface and he
was employed my the military authority on duties at
