Summary
• Small-angle neutron scattering is a powerful noninvasive structural
technique, which gives information about particle sizes and shapes and
interaction between them.
• Basic functions approach for SANS experiments on a system of
polydisperse particles has been developed; it shows specific differences
comparing with the classical case of monodisperse particles; despite
more complicated equations in general, still several expressions
suggest transparent interpretation.

• Compared to the monodisperse case, the contrast dependence of
scattering integral parameters for the polydisperse system contains a
number of additional parameters comprising information about
polydispersity function of the system; their analysis increases the
reliability of experimental results.
• Magnetic scattering effect can be treated in terms of the basic functions
approach, which provides an additional way to separate information
about features of nuclear and magnetic structures of particles.
