KOIKE ARONSON, INC.
RANSOME
Summer 2012 Volume #23, Number #1
President’s Message
“Our employment level continued to rise and we were able to backfill positions that
were open as a result of promotions.”
The first part of 2012 has proved far better than we anticipated after
enjoying a very successful 2011.
In addition to a high and sustainable order backlog and resulting
high shipping level, Koike Aronson enjoyed a strong level of positive local and
industry publicity. We were featured on Buffalo’s Channel 7, Buffalo’s
Business First, the Arcade Herald and various industry publications
highlighting the completion of the G250 positioner for Harbin Boiler and our
Sponsorship with Turner Motorsports camp truck series.
New products that were introduced in 2011, lightweight 3D bevel, PNC-10
Elite and E Series Waterjet generated strong incremental business in 2012.
The change to the Mastergraph Extreme has also led to additional sales.
Gerald Leary
Our employment level continued to rise and we were able to backfill
President
positions that were open as a result of promotions.
Export sales continue to be very good. We have entered into preliminary negotiations to purchase a Brazilian
company to assemble our equipment in that country.
We have already applied for the permits that will allow us to
begin our new expansion by mid-year.
So far our growth has not been hampered by the U.S. election
year or the turmoil in the Mideast. Hopefully neither has a
negative impact on us going forward.
I appreciate the efforts of all our employees. With their help
Koike Aronson Ransome continues to grow and improve.
Ready. Get Set. Race!
CampingWorld Truck Series
James Buescher standing next to Koike Aronson/Ransome
No. 31 Chevy Silverado Truck at Rockingham Speedway
As many of you may have heard, Koike Aronson/Ransome
has become a primary sponsor for Turner Motorsports.
Koike Aronson/Ransome’s logo and company name will
adorn the hood and sides of the Number 31 Chevy Silverado
driven by James Buescher during his 2012 campaign. James will
be making an appearance at Koike headquarters in Arcade, NY
sometime this year. To help raise money for the American
Diabetes Association, which many of us actively support, we sold
over 200 “Koike Racing” T-shirts, which were designed by Turner
Motorsport’s graphic designer. All of the proceeds have been
donated to the ADA to help find a cure.
“Koike Aronson, Inc. is proud to be a sponsor of Turner
Motorsports,” commented Koike president, Jerry Leary. “We
believe that the relationship with Turner will help develop our
presence within the NASCAR racing community making it very
profitable for both Koike Aronson, Inc. and Turner Motorsports.
At Koike, we feel that we can help improve production time while
also eliminating excessive manufacturing costs for the Turner
Motorsport’s team with our wide variety of standard and custom
made cutting and welding equipment.”
Turner Motorsports has chosen the Koike Aronson Koikejet
Pro Series for their primary cutting needs and the Universal
Balance for their welding and assembly needs.
The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) races left
of the year, where Koike will be the primary sponsor are Pocono
Raceway (August 4th) & Talladega (October 6th). Hope you can
watch!
Koike Builds Positioner Capable of Handling
Two Hundred and Fifty Metric Tons
Koike Aronson, Inc./Ransome, a leading
manufacturer of cutting and positioning
equipment for the metalworking industry,
introduces the Model 250MT Weld Positioner, capable of
handling two-hundred and fifty metric tons (550,000
pounds). The weight of the positioner alone is 130 tons.
This semi-automated, tilt, turn and rotator positioner
offers a larger capacity, special programming, and many
control component features.
The Model 250MT, built for Harbin Electric
Corporation located in Qinhaungdao City, China, was
made to offer the ability to weld and clad component
parts for a new nuclear reactor, which will produce
electricity for the region. We will integrate the Model
250MT Weld Positioner controller with their already
existing welding system via a network communication
link. Commands received from the welding system to the
positioner or from the positioner controller operator to
the positioner, set and monitor the proper degree of
rotation.
Two hundred and fifty Metric Ton Tilt/Turn Welding Positioner
Ordered from China (Being Shown) MT250 being tested by highlyskilled
Engineers at headquarters
Large heavy fabricators who are in need of this kind of machinery should contact Don Burgart, Positioner Product
Manager, to discuss the specifics of how we could build equipment to assist in special applications such as this one.

Mecânica
ANHEMBI | São Paulo, SP | Brazil
May 22 to 26th, 2012
The Mecânica Show was in full swing from May 22 through
May 26th. There were nearly 2,000 exhibitors and over
100,000 visitors. The Mecânica show brings a variety of
production machinery and equipment together so buyers, dealers,
and industrialists abroad can see new product launches,
technologies and conduct business deals. The compact, economical,
oxy-fuel and plasma cutting machine, the PNC-10 Elite, was a huge
hit. It was ran by Gabriella, a University student, who
really enjoyed running the machine, picking up parts,
showing them and discussing with spectators about the
machine. We were the only company to exhibit a small
CNC machine at the show, and we expect to receive
multiple orders as a result.
IK-72T Tunneling Through
Seattle, Washington
What do you do when you have a 24-foot
diameter, 2-inch thick tube to cut off deep
underground?
This challenge was
brought to John
Powers of Pacific
Welding Supply by
Traylor Frontier
Keeper, who is boring
tunnels for the Seattle
light rail project. The
solution was a Koike
IK-72T using 2-D rail.
This critical cut was
successfully demonstrated by Dan Clay, a Koike
independent representative, from Douglas Clay and
Associates. The IK-72T is a light weight semi-automated
cutting machine, which utilizes flexible and rigid
magnetic rail to make precision cuts in any position.
The Koike Aronson, Inc. Distributor Council meeting
was held April 30th - May 1st at Beaver Hollow
Conference Center. Ten council members
representing some of our key distributors gathered at our
annual meeting to discuss ways to improve our products
and better service our customers. The Beaver Hollow
facilities gave them a relaxing atmosphere allowing them to
deliberate and come up with great suggestions. The Koike
Aronson Team will continue to work on implementing
these suggestions and keep our members updated on our
progress. We wish to thank our members for the time they
have taken out of their busy schedules to help support our
efforts to improve our products and services to our
customers.
Jon Mikoll
Accounting
This year has been booming! We have so many new faces at
our facility that it was difficult to choose a handful of people
to highlight in this edition of the bi-annual newsletter.
Darryl Church, an Electrical Engineer from Java, started in
April 2011. Darryl enjoys working at Koike because of the people
and the variety of work he is exposed to on a daily basis. He said
he enjoys “working on process improvements by applying my past
experience with robotics to Koike’s existing machine designs, I can
help make things more efficient.”
Josh Cutler, an Electronic Technician from Delevan, started in
September of 2011. Josh likes working at Koike Aronson/Ransome
because of his “good co-workers and non-repetitive tasks.” Josh is
also looking forward to traveling to China to install the 250 metric
ton positioner (G250MT) built for Harbin Electric Corporation.
Nicole Schunk, the Receptionist, is from Springville. Nicole
started working here in March of this year. What Nicole likes most
about working here is the friendly work environment.
Jon Mikoll, a member of the Accounting Department, is also
from Delevan and started working here in August 2011. Jon is very
positive, and when he is asked how he is doing, he responds, “Just
living the dream,” and he smiles. Jon thinks it is “really great to
work for a company that is growing and sells around the world. I
enjoy my job because I get to learn the company inside and out
from having to work with all of the departments throughout the
building for various reasons.”
Jim Rathmann, an Electrical Engineer from West Seneca,
started in December 2009. Jim likes working at Koike because of
the people: “People make work fun and enjoyable. I also like the
variety of what we do; the different projects make it interesting.”
Justin Siddle, an Application Engineer in the Positioner
Department, is a resident of Freedom and started his job here in
May 2011. Prior to working here full-time, Justin had a lot of
knowledge of Koike because he had interned for three summers
while attending Alfred State College. Justin said, “I love my job- it’s
awesome. I also enjoy traveling to End-User facilities to see the
giant machines in action.”
Don Hodge, who works for the Maintenance team, is from
Delevan, and he started in July 2011. “I like the variety of work;
fixing things; learning new equipment and being creative.” Don
also enjoys getting involved with committees and isn’t afraid of
volunteering when needed.
Annette Lembicz, a member of the Accounting Department, is
from Holland and started working here at the end of February of
this year. Although she hasn’t been with us for long duration of
time, Annette so far has enjoyed having a steady workflow and
easy going co-workers.
