The <strong>Municipal</strong> <strong>Election</strong> Commission <strong>of</strong> the (name <strong>of</strong> the municipality) announces the general (or special) election for<br />
(name <strong>of</strong> municipality) to be Tuesday, (month and date). Any person wishing to register to vote in this election must do<br />
so no later than (enter a date that is 30 days before the election).<br />
The following <strong>of</strong>fices shall be included in this election:<br />
Mayor (if it applies)<br />
Council (number <strong>of</strong> seats or council districts _________)<br />
Citizens desiring to be candidates for one <strong>of</strong> the above listed <strong>of</strong>fices must file with their respective political party according<br />
to the following schedule: Political party filing opens at (location, date and time) and remain open during regular<br />
business hours until (date and time).<br />
Political party primaries will be held on (date) at the scheduled polling places. Primary run<strong>of</strong>f, if necessary, will be held on<br />
(date). Political party conventions for nominating candidates shall be held on (date).<br />
Citizens wishing to qualify by petition must file the petition by (a date that is no later than 75 days before the general<br />
election or no later than noon, 60 days before the special election) with the municipal clerk.<br />
(If the municipal election commission plans to open absentee ballot envelopes at 9 a.m., this statement must appear in<br />
the notice.) At 9 a.m. on <strong>Election</strong> Day, the poll managers will begin examining the absentee ballot return envelopes. This<br />
examination will be held at (location <strong>of</strong> examination).<br />
On Thursday, ____________________, at (time) at (location) the <strong>Municipal</strong> <strong>Election</strong> Commission will hold a hearing to<br />
determine the validity <strong>of</strong> ballots challenged in this election.<br />
