résumé
I have made a career of marketing, design and prepress since 1986. I started as a paste-up artist, changing with the industry over the years. My background ranges
throughout all functions of production, including mock-ups, layout, typesetting, typography, lithographic camera, paste-up, trapping, color-keys, MatchPrints, and even
some bindery. Though many of these skills are obsolete, they have provided me with a clear understanding of their digital equivalents. I’ve developed a good sense for
bringing projects from ideas, whether mine or not, to finished quality products.
I am regularly involved with all project phases: starting from personally listening to client’s needs/goals, developing concepts, project design and coordination, to
scanning, photography, layout and typography, then to imposition, trapping, film generation, computer-to-plate technologies and pressroom checks. Working closely
with press operators for many years, I have honed my skills and knowledge in 4-color process, thereby completing my practical understanding of color theory and
correction. Now, my long experience in color print design has made for an easy transition to the internet and web environment.
Beyond the press, I grew further into conceptual design by branching out into corporate marketing, making great strides in many other related areas such as creating
continuing education content, market research analysis, tradeshow display design and construction, specific product management, technical writing, internet-based
application development with both local and overseas development teams as well as visual communication techniques within a corporate structure. Most recently I’ve
been coordinating efforts between marketing, research and development, and manufacturing production to effectively develop new commercial products.
Other various related talents include a working knowledge of professional photography and lighting, three-dimensional photo-realistic rendered animation and
illustration, ability to read blueprints and technical drawings/schematics, and some basic engineering experience.
