STEPS ON THE PATH TO SUCCESS
Lee College is making changes so you can become a
more successful student: new student orientation,
financial aid seminar, and no late registration.
New students
New student orientation/registration helps students
maneuver in Lee College’s cyber world, as well as learn
more about college activities and opportunities. They
will learn how to access their myLC account, so they
can plan course sequences, look at financial aid requests,
register for classes, and pay for tuition and fees.
All first-time-in-college and former dual credit or coenrolled
high school students are required to attend.
Students should be prepared for orientation by
(1) completing a Lee College admissions application,
(2) having transcripts sent to Lee College, (3) taking
applicable placements tests (see section on Testing Requirements),
(4) seeing an advisor or counselor about
test score information, and (5) signing up for an orientation
session with the Counseling Center in Moler Hall.
Returning students
Beginning November 6, returning students may register
online through their myLC accounts or drop by the
Student Success Center in the Student Center for
assistance.
Students receiving federal financial aid
Financial aid seminars are required of all federal recipients
receiving PELL grants and student loans. The
federal government is changing the rules to keep
students on track for certificate and degree completion.
Good grades with continuous progress in a
specific discipline are expected. Students need to sign
up online for an upcoming session in order to receive
federal aid during the 2012-13 year:
http://www.lee.edu/financialaid/orientation.asp.
The federal government requires students to take only
courses that are in their degree plan. Register by
December 3 to ensure review of courses for financial
purposes prior to the first day of class.
