fraterculus (Dip.: Tephritidae) <strong>in</strong> laboratory<br />

The use of bait sprays aga<strong>in</strong>st fruit flies is a key component of IPM activities. Laboratory<br />

trials were conducted to measure the mortality caused by six organophosphates and two<br />

pyrethroids <strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong>secticide baits aga<strong>in</strong>st fruit flies. The prote<strong>in</strong> BioAnastrepha® (5%) was<br />

added to all <strong>in</strong>secticides. Five females and five males of 2-4d-old medfly Ceratitis capitata<br />

(Wied.) and 4-5d-old South american fruit fly Anastrepha fraterculus (Wied.) were placed <strong>in</strong><br />

each of ten replicate small cages. Aproximately 0.2 ml of bait was disposed through the<br />

Teflon® gutter situated on the upper third part of the cage. Evaluations of adult survival were<br />

carried out at 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, 90, 120, 150, 180 and 195 m<strong>in</strong>utes after <strong>in</strong>itial exposure. For<br />

medfly females, fenpropathr<strong>in</strong> (12.0 g IA/100 L) and trichlorfon (150.0 g IA/100 L) showed<br />

the lowest LT 50 (
