JOB DESCRIPTION: Food Technology Technician, NJC Scale point 13 £17,195 pro rata
PURPOSE: To support the Art, Design and Technology Faculty, under the direction of the Head of ADT Faculty.

REPORTING TO: Head of ADT Faculty
WORKING TIME: 3 days per week term time only
MAIN (CORE) DUTIES
To support teaching and learning across the faculty by-
Establishing the organisation and inventory of material, equipment and consumables within Food Technology
Managing the ordering and receiving of equipment, ingredients and materials ensuring they are put away on
receipt
To keep an up to date inventory of all equipment
To prepare ingredients and resources for lessons and assist students with requirements
Advise and assist students during lessons where appropriate
Assist teaching staff by setting up equipment in the Food Technology room and clearing away leaving the
room clean and tidy at the end of the day
Ensure sufficient and appropriate resources are ready for projects in good time
Daily maintenance of food preparation equipment and work stations, ensuring they are safe to use and
cleaned regularly
Check and inform colleagues of all Health & Safety issues
Regular filing of resources
Preparation and printing of student resources/exam papers using ICT
Photocopying and distribution of general information
Inputting data using the school’s ICT systems

Headteacher to reflect or anticipate changes in the job commensurate with the grade and job title.

PERSON SPECIFICATION: Food Technology Technician
Essential unless noted as desirable
Qualifications
No special requirements; it would be desirable to have academic qualifications indicating literacy, numeracy
and a good all round education. An interest in food preparation is also desirable.
Aptitude/Skills
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to show initiative and to work with minimal supervision within an agreed framework
A liking for young people and an ability to adapt to a school environment and execute work in a professional
and proactive manner, with due regard to both students and staff
Able to advise and assist students.
A willingness to undertake appropriate training
Ability to work as part of a team
Ability to prepare and organise resources
Ability to prepare teaching materials and resources using ICT
Organised and able to prioritise
Good communicator.
Experience
A working knowledge of schools
Experience of working with food and food preparation equipment
Good ICT/word processing skills
Basic knowledge of Food Hygiene and H & S requirements (desirable)
