<strong>Science</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>School</strong> is based at the European Molecular<br />
Biology Laboratory (EMBL) and published by the<br />
EIROforum. It is a non-profit activity, part of the NUCLE-<br />
US project funded by the European Commission.<br />
The EIROforum is a collaboration between seven European<br />
<strong>in</strong>tergovernmental scientific research organisations, which<br />
are responsible for <strong>in</strong>frastructures and laboratories.<br />
<strong>Science</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>School</strong> is...<br />
... a platform for communication between teachers,<br />
practic<strong>in</strong>g scientists and all stakeholders <strong>in</strong> European<br />
science teach<strong>in</strong>g.<br />
It will be launched <strong>in</strong> Spr<strong>in</strong>g 2006 and published quarterly.<br />
<strong>Science</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>School</strong> will be freely available on the Internet;<br />
a pr<strong>in</strong>t copy may also be produced.<br />
<strong>Science</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>School</strong> will cover not only biology, physics,<br />
chemistry, earth sciences and maths, but also medic<strong>in</strong>e,<br />
psychology, eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g - all the fields that pupils learn<strong>in</strong>g<br />
science at school may go on to study.<br />
All content will be <strong>in</strong> English. Some materials will also be<br />
available <strong>in</strong> other European languages.<br />

As world leaders with<strong>in</strong> their respective fields of science,<br />
the seven member organisations of the EIROforum constitute<br />
the vanguard of European science, enabl<strong>in</strong>g European<br />
scientists to engage <strong>in</strong> truly cutt<strong>in</strong>g-edge research and be<br />
competitive on a global scale. These organisations have a<br />
vital role to play <strong>in</strong> the future of European research.<br />
