2 ANNUALREPORT 2012 L ANNUAL 2 ANNUALREPORT 2012 ANNUAL SOCIAL SERVICES Special Services, performed by special people, that routinely go beyond the requirements for hospice. Our Social Work team provides an amazing array of support and joy to the patients, families and communities in which Joliet Area Community Hospice has been proudly serving for 30 years. Services provided include: Counseling, Bereavement, Support groups, Music Therapy, Massage Therapy, Pet Therapy, and Art Therapy. JACH PROVIDED OVER 1,200 HOURS OF SUPPORT IN THE COMMUNITY THAT WERE NON HOSPICE RELATED. DID YOU KNOW: 27 CHILDREN ATTENDED OUR JOURNEY CHILDREN’S CAMP. 8
ANNIVERSARY 30 YEAR ANNIVERSARY ANNIVERSARY 30 YEAR ANNIVERSARY CLINICAL Providing hospice care is a calling and not just a profession. The requirements for each patient are often different. Our clinicians must be sensitive to needs of the patients and their families, experts in hospice care, all the while possessing the ability to adjust to situations at a moment’s notice. Thankfully these are skill sets that the clinicians at Joliet Area Community Hospice possess. Whether patients are being cared for in a skilled nursing facility, assisted living facility, private residence, the hospice home or in our pediatric program they will always receive superior compassionate hospice care that is second to none. “To have a child with a life limiting illness is overwhelming but Joliet Area Community Hospice provided the entire family with love, care and support to manage through the final short months of Peyton’s short life. We will never forget the support they were able to provide for us to enjoy the time we had.” The Labus Family THE HOSPICE HOME The hospice home is just that “A Home”. A home that is designed to provide 24 hours/7 days a week of short term care to terminally ill patients who are experiencing pain or symptoms related to their terminal illness that is not manageable at home. Sitting on 17 plush acres everything in and around the home is meant to make what can be a difficult time for patients and families as enjoyable as possible. From the 16 private rooms with sleeping accommodations for family and private bathrooms to the stocked pond with gazebos and walking paths around it, dining room that comfortable seats ten and comforting silence of the solace room, no expense was spared in effort to make your stay with Joliet Area Community Hospice the next best thing to home. 9
