Our new warm air blankets are a safe, economical solution. They are made
of a silky polyester fabric with an inlay of nylon water proof material to
keep the airflow circulating towards just the patient. These blankets are
machine washable (hang to dry), so much more economical than other disposable
air blankets on the market. There is a 5" diameter round opening with a
nylon cord to secure the blanket to any of the major brands of warm air convection
units.

Hillside Small Animal Hospital
Growing up the youngest of four children in suburban Cincinnati, Dr. Timothy A. Fouts says his aspirations
to become a veterinarian started as early as age 4. Dr. Fouts and his wife Lynn, a California native,
moved back to Ohio in 1996, with the goal of building a successful veterinary practice from the ground
up. Hillside Small Animal Hospital opened November 11, 1996, offering care to dogs and cats.
The mission statement of "Friendly, full-service veterinary care for your dog or cat" means that we strive
to stay progressive and provide comprehensive medical and surgical services, while remaining affordable
and treating every client like family.
In 2011 construction was completed on the NEW Hillside Small Animal Hospital. Built on a more visible
and accessible site, the state-of-the-art facility boasts: a modern dental suite, complete with digital
dental radiography and the latest in high-speed equipment; improved surgical monitoring, including
Doppler blood-pressure monitoring; centralized vacuum, anesthesia gas evacuation and oxygen concentrator;
expanded computer network with fully integrated digital radiography; a professionally designed
and decorated hospital that is at the same time comfortable, functional and visually appealing.

Forkless TTA Plates
Standard TTA plates rely on a barbed system for attachment onto the tibial crest.
Many surgeons consider that the hardest part of the TTA procedure is preparing
for and placing the fork. Forkless TTA plates are screwed onto the tibial crest
using titanium 2.4mm screws. The distal part of the forkless plate is secured
using 2.7mm or 3.5mm screws as appropriate. The rest of the procedure is as per
the standard technique.

Radiographic Reference Ball
Taking radiographs where the area of interest is not close to the plate creates some challenges in scaling.
This is true of both digital and analogue systems. When using the radiograph for templating
implants e.g. total hip replacement it is very important to make accurate measurements.
The Reference ball is 25mm in diameter and is attached to a stable base by a flexible neck which allows
the ball to be placed at the same level above the plate as the area of interest. Using a spherical object as
a reference eliminates errors created by ruler type reference which might not be quite parallel with the
plate.

Liquid barium is useful for diagnosing suspected GI foreign bodies on radiographs; however partial
obstructions can be difficult to interpret on radiographs even with barium. The use of radiographic
markers before barium administration can really be useful in suspected foreign bodies, invasive neoplasia,
or gastric motility disorders such as Ileus.
Radiograph markers are:
- Radiopaque small beads of 1.5mm and 4.7mm diameter
- Stainless steel non-corrosive and inert material
- Readily pass through normal GI tract
- Beads are packaged in small gelatin capsules for ease of administration
- Considerably less expensive than Barium impregnated polystyrene beads
- Keep in clinic ready to go when that emergency case presents itself.
