LOADING COMPUTER 

1. Longitudinal strength module 

This module is used for calculation and reporting 

of the ship’s longitudinal strength, and 

checking against limit curves given by the classification 

societies. 

The following is calculated and reported: 

• Total deadweight, displacement, trim and 

drafts (DF, DM and DA) 

• Shear forces and bending moments at a number 

of predefined frames 

• Maximum SF and BM expressed in percentage 

of seagoing and harbour limits. 

• Deflection (hogging and sagging) 

2. Ullage module 

The ullage calculation module calculates ullage, 

volume, weight and % filling of all actual 

tanks (Cargo, WB, FO, etc.), and is able to print 

Cargo Reports and WB/FO/FW reports. 

Ullage tables with trim/list corrections and 

ASTM tables for metric units are incorporated 

into the system. Input of cargo can be entered 

as either ullage/sounding, volume, weight or as 

a percentage of volume. 

3. Online module 

This module reads all necessary tank- and 

shipdata from the level gauge system, such 

as ullage/sounding, tank temperatures, drafts, 

trim and list. Several means of communication 

can be used, the most common are NetDDE 

and serial line. A variety of serial protocols are 

supported. The online module works integrated 

with the other parts of the Loading Program, 

ensuring dynamically updating of tank values, 

as well as deadweight calculations, stability and 

longitudinal strength results.

4. Intact stability module 

The intact stability module calculates total 

deadweight, displacement, trim, heel and drafts 

(DF, DM and DA), and essential stability values, 

including KG, GM, and GZ-curve. 

Tables for VCG and free surface effect of tanks 

at different fillings are incorporated. 

The intact stability is checked against actual 

stability requirements, such as IMO Res. A167, 

A562 and A749. 

4.1 Grain stability module 

Calculation of grain stability and checking for 

compliance with grain stability requirements 

according to SOLAS 74/78 ch. VI part C, and 

MSC 23 (59) including Part A10.3 for trimmed 

and untrimmed ends. Printing of grain stability 

forms can be incorporated. 

5. 3D-Damage Stability module 

This is a program module for full damage stability 

calculation using the complete 3-dimensional 

model of the vessel. Calculation of 

equilibrium floating position and GZ-curve for 

all defined damage cases and if required intermediate 

stages. 

5.1 OPA-90 module 

Item 5. Damage Stability can be extended 

with an OPA-90 module, calculation strength 

and stability in a damaged condition also at 

grounding/ stranding condition. The operator 

can compose his own damage cases and simulate 

improvement of condition in a damaged 

condition. 

5.2 Damage Stability (Max KG Curves) 

The calculated KG is checked against Max KGcurves 

including requirements for damage 

stability. 

6. Container Input module 

This is a program module for convenient container 

input. 

A graphical input is provided, showing a section 

of each 20 of 40 ft. bay. Container load can be 

entered per container, per tier, layer or for the 

entire bay as a whole. 

A harbour database with colour codes can be 

defined, and each container can then be assigned 

a destination harbour, simplifying viewing, 

reporting and unloading the cargo for each 

particular harbour. Eventual ”blocking” containers 

in adjacent bays are also shown.

7. Free Loading Input module 

In this module deadweight input is grouped on 

a number of tabs. 

Some tabs may contain pre-defined cargo 

items, while on other tabs infinite numbers of 

own defined items with any LCG, TCG, VCG and 

weight can be added. 

Definition of items with fixed CG is set prior to 

delivery of the program. This module allows input 

of bulk loads, deck loads and bay loads. 

8. LNG/LPG module 

The somewhat complex process of loading, carrying 

and discharging gas cargo requires a tool 

for fast and accurate calculations. The ever increasing 

LNG market also demands systems for 

Custody Transfer handling, so called CTS systems, 

and to comply with this the Consultas gas 

module is also available in a specialized background 

version for integration into CTS systems. 

This module receives ship- and tank data 

readings online and calculates and transmits all 

necessary data back to the CTS application. 

9. Prediction module 

The prediction module verifies a number of 

intermediate stages during a loading/discharging 

sequence. The program is based on 

the type approved program modules for longitudinal 

strength and intact stability. Before 

loading/discharging begins, desired final tank 

fillings and loading/discharging rates can be 

entered and the entire sequence can be simulated 

identifying any exceeding of longitudinal 

strength or intact stability. A dynamic prediction 

control mode is also available for continuously 

simulating while online. 

10. Ballast Water Exchange module 

To meet with IMO’s latest Ballast Water Convention 

Consultas delivers this module to assist in 

the process of exchanging ballast water in the 

ballast tanks. The main intention of this module 

is to simulate the entire ballast exchange operation 

in order to do necessary modifications to 

the parameters until an acceptable sequence 

for the operation is found.

This system was introduced already in 1972 and has since then been installed onboard more than 

2000 vessels. The system is designed to meet the requirements of all international governing 

bodies and classification societies as well as the requirements of OPA-90. The Consultas Loading 

Computer meets the special needs for loading calculations for most types of ships and platforms, 

and provides a great advantage in improved safety, pollution prevention, efficiency and reporting. 

The Loading Computer program runs on all PCs with Windows 2000 or newer. 

A normal supply comprises one set of type approved hardware with a pre-installed program submitted for class approval.

vessels and offices ashore can be massive and often spread on all sorts of media. 

How to share, store and furthermore make such information available when 

needed? With a vision that this could be solved through one software solution 

the idea of C-Experience was born. A true knowledgebase for any type of management 

within the shipping industry! 

Core functionality 

• All data is stored in one database on shore and 

from there distributed in whole or partly to individual 

users, departments and vessels – what 

and wherever applicable 

• Information to be shared is entered as a memo. 

This memo is categorised according to each 

organisation’s category tree. Categories are 

maintained by defined Admin User(s) in each organisation 

• Updates and/or amendments by any party in a 

memo is automatically distributed to all users 

involved 

• Simple distribution office to vessel, vessel group 

and fleet 

• When further info besides the memo field is 

necessary to share then forms, external docu- 

ments, drawings, photos etc. can be linked with

Forms/Documents 

The Form Manager module in C-Experience is available for both shipboard and shore office use and is an 

excellent tool for administration of all kind of reports and forms needed onboard. Each necessary report 

can easily be found and filled, printed and stored. The Form Manager module onboard communicates with 

the office version, the filled forms can be sent to the office and new forms can be sent from the office to 

all the vessels. 

This module covers the following main functions: 

• Administration of all forms for the ship operation in an easy and user-friendly way and secures that the 

ship has updated forms/files at hand at all times 

• Easy filling and printing of all types of forms, also such as Excel, Word 

• Special electronic forms with rational data exchange can be tailor made for customers 

• All filled forms will be saved in the database with full search capability 

• Reported forms are easily communicated with owner’s office 

• All filled forms for all the vessels can be viewed and printed at the office 

• Simplified distribution of new updated forms & files from Office to selected or all vessels 

• Can be used as a Document Manager, for distribution of updated files in a categorized fashion to 

vessels, making it ideal for such as Company Policy and Q&A

BUDGET 

The Consultas Budget Program ensures ultimate efficiency in onboard 

spare part management. The system has been supplied since 1974. The 

user friendly windows version has since 1999 been delivered to hundreds 

of vessels world wide. 

Consultas’ Budget Program is used, by many companies, in conjunction 

with the Spare Part Program. The purchase section of the Spare Part Program 

can be linked with the Budget Program. Furthermore, the onboard 

Budget Program can be linked to the onshore office Budget Program. This 

ensures regular, problem free communication of all matters concerning 

the fleet budget. 

The standard functions of the Budget Program are: 

• Next year’s budget based on previous year’s budget and status given by Spare Part / Maintenance system 

• Cost control for the vessel 

• Budget status per date or yearly status 

• Budget status (Budget, Expenses and Remainder) for all levels in the account plan 

• Budget history for all years for each account, numerical and graphical presentation 

• Supplier status; status per date and report for the last year 

• Link between Budget and purchase part of Spare Part Program 

• Link between Budget Program onshore and budget system onboard each vessel via data communication. 

(Planning of next year’s budget and regular updating of vessel’s vouchers)

C-CONNECT 

Since its introduction in 1984, Consultas has supplied data communication 

solutions to many shipping companies and vessels worldwide, enabling reliable 

communication between vessels and operators office. C-Connect is the 

latest release of this kind and aims to offer Consultas software customers a 

modern solution automating file transfers between software onboard and 

software at offices ashore. 

C-Connect has the following main functions: 

• Sending and receiving files and memos 

• Export files are automatically added to outbox from other Consultas programs, 

creating an automatic link between various vessels’ and office applications. 

Some examples: 

Inventory onboard/ purchase ashore: orders, order updates, supplier list, spare part data, etc. 

Maintenance: history, maintenance jobs, etc. 

Loading calculations: loading conditions 

• Files from other programs, text editor, database program, spread sheet and also graphic files can be transferred 

via the C-Connect 

• Creating a complete overview of all data exchange made by Consultas programs 

• Search the transmission history 

• Use available windows devices/modems (TAPI) or select from the built in list of modems 

• Effective data compression, continuation on partly sent / received files, checksum comparison and 

variable data block size will secure an efficient link between vessels and shore office 

• Multiple communication devices (e.g. modems) in the same system. (may operate at the same time) 

• Control of the C-Connect from any computer in net, includes starting dial-up 

• On connection files are transferred both ways

PAYROLL 

The Payroll Program gives the vessel a good overview of the crew qualifications 

and other relevant information about the crew. The monthly Wage 

Accounts can be prepared and printed in an easy way and the necessary 

reports related to the crew can be printed when needed. 

The standard Payroll Program covers the following functions: 

• Easy and flexible registration of crew data such as: 

• Certificates 

• Visa 

• Vaccination 

• Passport 

• Next of kin 

• Monthly wages 

• Leave wage, overtime etc.

PLANNED MAINTENANCE / 

FLEET MAINTENANCE 

The Consultas Maintenance Program is available for both shipboard and 

shore office use. It was introduced in 1974, and is now ensuring maximum efficiency 

of operations in many shipping companies. The user friendly windows 

version has since 1999 been delivered to hundreds of vessels world wide. 

The system has been approved by several class societies, and type approved 

by DNV since 1999 for use onboard DNV classed vessels with the survey 

arrangement based on Planned Maintenance System (SA-PMS). The system 

also complies with requirements to PMS, given by the ISM Code. 

The standard Maintenance Program covers the 

following functions: 

• Maintenance plan, short and long term 

• Maintenance description, job cards, multi selection 

of job types 

• Class survey, control of class jobs and certificates 

• EO-class survey items 

• Electrical-megger testing reports 

• Dry-docking specification 

• Component history 

• Safety control, check routines according to class 

and government’s requirements 

• Use of Report Forms, according to owner’s require 

ments, when signing for jobs carried out 

• OCIMF’s required TMSA statistics on overdue jobs

The Provision Stock Control Program enables the vessel to have a complete 

overview and control of the provision onboard with printing of requisitions 

and periodical reports. The Slopchest module enables printing of Slopchest 

price list and registration and printing of sale to crew. All the necessary reports 

can be printed in an easy way. 

The standard Provision Stock Control covers the following functions: 

• Control of the provision stock onboard, critical stock reminder 

• Data base with item information from different suppliers, unit prices in local 

currencies

administer buying for the entire fleet. The system has been delivered since

The standard Spare Part Program covers the following functions: 

• Control of spare part stock (actual, max, min) 

• Order list, critical stock reminder 

• Spare part need for future maintenance, link to the Maintenance 

Program 

• Printing of orders; spare part orders, consumables and service orders 

• Order control; control of all spare parts on order. Order history 

• Identification labels; printing of labels for marking of spare parts

VOYAGE REPORT 

The Voyage Report Program is available for both shipboard and shore office 

use and enables the vessel to have a complete overview of the vessel’s 

voyages with all data and reports. 

Daily transfer of data to the office version gives the office the necessary 

information about the position and status for each vessel and analysis of 

each vessel’s consumption and speed. 

The standard Voyage Report Program covers the following functions: 

• Registration of information for each port: Port name / berth, ETA / ETD, 

Port Agent etc. 

• Daily registration of position, sailed distance / time, consumption of FO, DO, LO etc. 

• Easy filling and printing of reports for each port 

• Statement of Facts 

• Notice of Readiness
