Dear Parishioners,
The Christmas Season officially begins this week. We invite you to pray at one of the many liturgical celebrations beginning
Tuesday afternoon. As you can see the Masses have been scheduled at convenient times in all three locations to accommodate your
busy schedules. By now you realize that your presence is welcome and appreciated at any church. We are a trinity of parishes, all
connected with each other spiritually and socially. You also know that your contribution envelopes can be left at any location and
will be recorded at your parish of registration. The e-giving option which some of you have selected is a good way to resolve your
attendance conflicts as well as to assure uninterrupted financial support of your parish when bad weather is upon us. Thank you
again to those of you who have elected that option.
We are very pleased to welcome Father Joe Craddock to our parish trinity and grateful for his willingness to assist at weekend
liturgies as his schedule permits. We are so fortunate since with the declining number of active clergy and the reality of illness which
affects us all, that Father Joe has made himself available at time. Please say a prayer that the Lord will continue to bless his
priesthood as we are blessed to have his support.
Please try to take necessary time during these busy days for reflective prayer to keep the meaning of the season in proper focus. On

YOUTH MINISTRY EVENTS
Trip to Shrine of Our Lady of LaSalette
Youth Ministry would like to extend a thank you to everyone
who attended our youth ministry trip to LaSalette! It was a
wonderful experience!
Mission Trip To Guatemala
On January 1, 2014, 12 teenagers and four adults from our
four neighboring parishes (Saint Edward Church, Saint
Anthony, Church of the Presentation, and Mary Mother of
Mankind) will be chosen as missionaries and prepare
themselves to work with over 200 children, at the Valley of
the Angels orphanage in Guatemala in July
(www.valleyoftheangelsorphanage.com). If you have any

Youth Basketball News
The Saint Anthony Boys’ Basketball are enjoying a
wonderful season so far. The team moved to 4 - 0 with a
recent win over Our Lady of Mercy. Upcoming games
include: Saturday, January 4 th at St. Philip Church at 1 PM
and Sunday, January 12 th at Saint Matthew Church at
4:30 PM. All are welcome to come and show your support!
CHILDRENS’ CLOTHING NEEDED
Coats and clothing for children are desperately needed at
Saint Edward Food & Wellness Center. If you are able to assist
with donations please drop them off on Tuesday mornings or
Wednesday during 10AM - 2 PM or 5 - 7 PM or during rectory
office hours.
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION - GRADES 7 AND 8
Sunday morning classes for grades 7 and 8 are complete. The
schedule for this group includes a session in March for each
grade. Grade 7 will attend a workshop on Saturday, March 22 nd
from 9 AM - 11 AM. Grade 8 will attend a workshop on
Saturday, March 29 th from 9 AM - 11 AM.
Sincere thanks to the students and their families for generously
contributing to our two service projects this year. Towels and
blankets were donated to the animal shelter where abandoned
pets are cared for in honor of the Feast of Saint Francis of
Assisi. Socks were donated as part of the Christmas gifts for
the residents of the nursing home.

Fall Classes 2013 – 2014
Parents of students in Catholic school who are entering
Grade 9 are to contact the Religious Education Office to
register for Confirmation classes.
RCIA (First Eucharist) for Children: Parents of children in
grade 3 and up who have not received First Communion
should contact the Religious Education Office to register their
child(ren) for classes and further information.
Schedule of Classes:
All classes are held in the Parish Center.
First Eucharist: Classes will resume on Monday, January 6 th
from 6 PM - 7 PM.
Grades 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6: Classes will resume on Monday,
January 6 th from 6 PM - 7 PM and Tuesday, January 7 th from
3:30 PM - 4:30 PM.
CHURCH OF THE PRESENTATION: ALTAR SERVERS
Girls and boys in grade 4 and older are encouraged to join our
altar server team. Altar servers are placed on a rotating
schedule to serve at weekend Masses and Holy Days. Training
will be provided. If your child is interested, please see Stephen

NAVIDAD EN TU INTERIOR
Navidad significa nacimiento, y el símbolo de la Navidad
es una estrella, una luz en la obscuridad que sirvió
de guía para encontrar al salvador.
Dentro de cada uno de nosotros existe un Salvador que
conoce nuestra totalidad, nuestra esencia.
Pero como un amigo fiel, no llegará a donde no se ha le ha invitado.
Por lo tanto, vamos a comenzar nuestras fiestas navideñas abriéndole
la puerta a este invitado tan especial. Él sabrá orientarnos, sin equivocarse
y nos traerá regalos que no podremos encontrar en ningún lugar
del mundo.
Tan pronto recibamos ese invitado tan especial, estaremos listos para
preparar la gran fiesta. Pero, ¿cómo va a ser esta fiesta de Navidad?
Nuestro amigo no pide nada. No exige sacrificios de ningún tipo. Por
lo tanto, en esta Navidad, cerremos las puertas a todo sacrificio estéril,
a la culpa, al miedo a la escasez y demos paso a lo único que tiene
sentido en nuestras vidas, a ese regalo del cual derivan su existencia
todas las cosas: el amor.
Para muchas personas, las estampas de la Navidad traen sentimientos
de gozo y alegría. Para otras, esta época puede ser difícil, solitaria,
aumentando los sentimientos de culpa y depresión. Continuamente
leemos artículos sobre cómo disfrutar las fiestas, sin embargo muchos
no podemos imaginar cómo salir de ese estado de inmensa soledad en
que algunos nos sumergimos. A veces podemos sentirnos atrapados
entre lo que queremos hacer y lo que debemos hacer. Nos sentimos
culpables porque deseamos quedarnos en casa en vez de salir a visitar
familiares por compromiso.
También podemos sentirnos perdidos porque no tenemos la familia que
quisiéramos tener. Muchos de nosotros, año tras año esperamos que la
mágica Navidad nos regale una persona que pueda llenar el vacío del
solitario corazón, causando honda desesperación cuando no sucede.
Recuerda que no estás solo (a). Que hay muchas personas compartiendo

UNA TARJETA DE NAVIDAD A TUS SACERDOTES
Durante estas fechas de Navidad qué oportuno sería enviar a
nuestros sacerdotes una Tarjeta de Navidad como signo de
nuestro aprecio, nuestro agradecimiento y cariño por su
labor. Recuerden que el ser detallistas y agradecidos es una
forma grandiosa de mostrar que su trabajo como sacerdote
vale y es apreciado por sus feligreses. Ser agradecido es un
gran don!!!

* Diezmo de tu Tiempo. Si participas como servidor en la parroquia.
* Diezmo de tus Talentos. Si sabes pintar, si eres músico, si sabes cantar,
si eres carpintero, plomero, electricista…
* Diezmo de tu Tesoro. Tu ofrenda en dinero ha de ser el total de lo
que ganes en un día de trabajo al año. Ejemplo: Si ganas $ 10 dólares
por hora y trabajas 8 horas, tu ofrenda será de $ 80.00 al año.
PREPARA EL SOBRE CON TU OFRENDA DESDE CASA
Recuerda traer tu sobre con tu ofrenda preparado desde casa, como una
forma de demostrarle a Dios tu entusiasmo de venir a su casa y al mismo
tiempo compartir con Él tu tesoro. Cuando das un regalo a alguien
siempre lo envuelves bien para presentarlo a su dueño. Lo mismo con
Dios!!! Dispón con tiempo tu sobre y ofrenda como fruto de tu generosidad
y esfuerzo. Esto es parte de nuestra preparación previa al encuentro
con Dios en el templo. Si no tienes un sobre, déjale saber alguno
de los ujieres para que te provean un provisional y averigüen por qué no
te llegan los sobres!
