minor, then PLEASE STOP and DO NOT READ further!
The yaoi fantasy OAV Sensitive Pornograph (rhymes with
"photograph"), released by Kitty Media in 2005, was
adapted by screenplay writer Toshizou Okita from two
original stories by manga-ka Ashika Sakura published in
Magazine Magazine. The animation director and character
designer is Takepon with music by Masamichi Amano who
has worked on better known mainstream titles. The half-hour

video is available only in Japanese with English subtitles.
Included are storyboards (viewed as a rolling scroll) and a
character design gallery (headshots, neutered nudes, clothed
figures), plus trailers of Kitty Media's other yaoi anime
titles, which are original story writers Aoi Futaba and Kurenai
Mitsuba's Level C; Kazuma Kodaka's Kizuna, OAV #3 (the
first two OAVs are available through Be Beautiful); and
Sakura Momo's My Sexual Harassment with character
designs by Kazuma Kodaka.
Sensitive Pornograph is well balanced between titillating
sex and a romantic storyline and has good pacing. You'll fall
in love with the expressive voice actors, too. The first story
gets down to business quickly. The director knows you didn't
buy a yaoi anime just for the romance, so the viewer sees
360 degrees of skin right away. Twenty-two-year-old Seiji
Yamada's lover is beautiful boy Sono Hanasaki, his senior by
a decade. They are both manga artists by profession. From
an assistant, Seiji hears gossip about Sono and Sono's
previous love affairs, which leads Seiji to think maybe he's
been a fool to fall for Sono.
The sweet first story is a warm-up for the mischievously
wicked second story. College student Koji Ueno works parttime
as a pet sitter, a job he enjoys very much. Koji even
turns down a party invitation from a friend who wonders,
"Who is he, Jack Hanna? What kind of man picks kittens and
puppies over girls?" His current assignment is to babysit a
rabbit named Aki whose owner will be away until tomorrow.
As Koji hesitantly opens a closet door where he has heard
thumping, the abused "rabbit" in bondage he sees is certainly
not what he expected.
The anime has a winning combination of graphic sex, sappy
romance, and cute humor, which is punched up by visually
switching from manga realistic to manga comic. Hardcore
fans might find some frame sequences too cutesy or overly
romantic (they wouldn't pick up anything with the word
"sensitive" in the title, would they?), but for me that was the
appeal. If you want straight sex, then go rent gay porn.
However, Sensitive Pornograph is not by any means
modest. There are no vague-looking "cones of light" or fig
leaves. There's plenty of sweat, slurping, and rivers of man-

milk flowing freely out of panting ukes.
Quarter-frame, symmetrical pairs of earlier scenes — color
and B&W, set diagonally and contrastively across from each
other — roll by during the ending credits for a final review.
This anime is more heavenly and entertaining than the nonyaoi
anime I've snored through recently. Sometimes you
have to look elsewhere for fun stuff.
