PREAMBLE
Readers are requested to read this Preamble before looking at the
results of the elections of the last fourteen years, which are presented in
descending order. The purpose of publishing these records is to speed
up the process of developing a public service-oriented mindset in trade
bodies.
The basic concept of this booklet is to provide the Business and
Industrial Community a correct picture of the prevalent culture in trade
politics. of our society. The idea is to create an improved understanding
towards respecting the mandate and making corrections for a better
future. The purpose is also to highlight the remarkable achievements of
the Businessmen Group and the colossal support provided by the
Business and Industrial Community of Karachi through its endorsement
of our services from year to year.
I have had the privilege of spending eighteen years in trade politics,
starting from the SITE Association of Industry in 1992 to the KCCI in
1996 and forming the Businessmen Group in 1998. I have led from the
front for the last eleven years, having contested twelve elections, which
has given me the opportunity to interact with the top brass as well as
the common traders of the Business and Industrial Community.
As a result of this unique and valuable exposure, I have realized that
some of the elite of the community use these platforms to promote their
personal ends, without realizing that such actions are detrimental to the
interests of the Business Community as a whole. Therefore, my humble
request to such people is that the opportunity given to them by Almighty
Allah be used in a manner that is beneficial to society in general.
My mission has always been to make the trade bodies work for the
people they represent with public service in mind for the collective and
general benefit of their respective institutions. I have no doubt in my
mind that once we succeed in forging this new culture in trade politics
and inculcate the values and ethics of service to the people, the trade
bodies will serve society in a much better manner.
The election results speak volumes about groups, contestants and
supporters with regard to their attitude, culture, ethics and values. My
only request is that these be studied carefully and necessary
amendments made towards achieving an honest and just future.
