A 4 th year Class-room student pursuing B.E.(Hons.) in Mechanical Engineering at the Birla Institute of
Technology and Science-Pilani: Campus Pilani, Rajasthan-333031, INDIA
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Seeking INTERNSHIP in an esteemed Organization in order to apply my engineering skills. I would like to make the best use of my
capabilities by putting my efforts to learning and experience.
PROJECT WORK
Academic projects
Fabrication of “Jib Crane”: A project done under course ‘Production Technique’ which aims at designing and
fabrication of Jib crane which can carry loads up to 60 kgs to move inside the workshop. The project was
accomplished in a team of 4 students and employed cheap scrap and basic Workshop techniques of fabrication and
also gained experiences on Lathe and process like Shaping, Milling, welding etc.
Structural analysis of Cantilever Beams: A project done under course ‘Design of Machine elements ‘which aims
at finding stress distribution by simulation using ANSYS of the CATIA model of Cantilever bridge. Elementary
mechanics and force analysis was used to derive standard DME equations.
Finite Element Modeling of a Fire tube boiler Done under the course ‘Computer Aided Design’ Aiming at Finite
Element analysis of Boiler using standard FEM equations and then designing the CATIA model and finding stress
distribution by simulation using ANSYS.
Technical Fest Project
Designing and Fabrication of All time Water Heater during APOGEE 2010, College Tech fest. This project aims at
routing water coming from solar water heater installed on hostel rooftops through Box containing poor conducting
material, so as to conserve water heat and it can be utilized well after evening hours.
Designing and Fabrication of ‘Portable Scooter’ during APOGEE 2010, which can be moved inside workshop for
ferrying petty loads. The scooter can be easily folded and carried anywhere in industry where large vehicles are not
reached.
Railway Station Designing of New Delhi during APOGEE 2009 using Google Sketch up on the Google Earth Snap
shot of the New Delhi station – the model comprised of innovative changes like covered station spacing, circulation
,increased compactness and parking solutions.

Study Oriented Projects
Study of Electric Traction : Study of electric traction, it’s evolution and comparison with other forms of transport
Currently ongoing under Prof. Vimal Bhanot . The project also comprises economic comparison with Roadways.
RF MEMS : Currently ongoing under Scientist Dr. K.J.Rangra ,CEERI , which aims at designing of a Mechanical link
And then simulating it on COMSOL. Beyond that material and designing aspects would be considered.
Campus traffic planning : Accomplished under Dr. A.K.Sarkar , which aims at statistical analysis of campus traffic
and then based on PCU count , redesigning of roundabouts after comparison with standard values. Also studied the safety
issues concerned with the traffic movement inside the campus.
INTERNSHIPS
Market Analysis of South Asia locomotives under Railistics from 2 nd June to 31 st July 2010 in Dessau,
Germany.
This aims at Market analysis of South Asian Locomotives together with Homologation and Technical Preconditioning and the Train
Protection systems used in these locomotives. This report was compiled by usage of Internet and company’s database and by
consulting analogous report done on Western Europe Locomotives.
Practice School-1 as a curriculum of BITS ,summer internship at Bhilai Steel plant , Bhilai from 25 th May to
17 th July 2009
In First phase went around the entire plant for the general overview of the various shops in the plant.
Second Phase worked under the specific plant , in My case being the Rail and Structural Mill which Manufactures rail for the
Indian Railways. Here I worked on the Drop Test Analysis dealing in the sampling of defective ingots after 7 Roll passes.
I worked on the process and suggested the ways and remedies to minimize the waste of ingots incurred.
Third Phase worked under the Long Rail Complex, analyzing the Precambrian Process , dealing in bending and it’s correction

of Long rails. This was achieved using standard Mechanics of Solid equations and then Simulation of the Rail Model on
ANSYS to predict the optimum movement of rollers carrying the rails.
