Principal’s Newsletter
Dear Parents,
Recently I have read the reports that you will shortly receive in the mail. I wish to congratulate
the many students who have worked to the best of their ability and have demonstrated
in so many ways, their understanding of the key competencies, by keeping up
with class work and assignments and attending school regularly. A small group of students
have not realised their potential and have several themes in common: attendance, time management
skills, and relationships with teachers and peers are inadequate.
I hope you will take time to praise your daughter for her positive report, or, if the report is not positive,
discuss why that is the case and how she might make learning a better experience for herself in
Term 3.
We enjoyed a dazzling Combined Kelston School Ball, at the Hyatt on Saturday evening. It was a
pleasure to attend such a happy occasion.
We farewell Marija Ven from the Mathematics Faculty and Pam Mansfield the tea lady, at the end of
this term.
I thank Kelston Girls’ College staff for their hard work in support of learning, this term and I wish
staff and students a happy and safe holiday. In week 1 of Term 3, I will be attending the
Principal’s Conference.
From the Kelston Girls’ College, Board of Trustees
Dear Parents
In recent times there has been much in the paper about the inadequate funding in the Operations
Grant to schools. Like other schools, we are finding it more and more challenging to
stay within budget and still meet the learning needs of our students. We know that many
parents are also feeling the pressure with the economic down turn. Where we can, we help
parents through the Hardship Fund. Where you can, please help us by paying subject and
sports fees.
Thank you
James Prescott
Board of Trustees Chairman
The Hauora Centre would like to thank the Auckland Drape Company (Ken Thomsen,
Director) for donating new Curtain Tracks for our Doctors Clinic. A father of one of our students
Mr Wihongi, also donated his time to install these for us.
A BIG THANK YOU, OUR CURTAINS LOOK SO MUCH BETTER.
