Concert Hall, Box Tier
Bust of Mstislav Rostropovich, National
Symphony Orchestra Music Director and
conductor Laureate; the artist is Audrey Roll.
The bust is inscribed: “In appreciation of
Slava’s music and his indomitable human
spirit.”
Bust of Dmitri Shostakovich, a friend and
mentor of Rostropovich. The Shostakovich
bust was Rostropovich’s own gift to the Kennedy
Center in 1976, upon the 70th anniversary
of Shostakovich’s birth.
