NOVEMBER 2005 KENNEDY CENTER DISTANCE LEARNING BROADCASTS<br />
The <strong>Kennedy</strong> <strong>Center</strong> Distance Learning Per<strong>for</strong>ming <strong>Arts</strong> Series presents “Connections: Science and Music” a program of discussion,<br />
demonstration, and per<strong>for</strong>mance featuring members of <strong>the</strong> National Symphony Orchestra. This program is a rebroadcast and can be<br />
seen on Monday, November 14, 2005, from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. EST via satellite and on <strong>the</strong> distance learning website. We welcome email<br />
questions to <strong>the</strong> artists be<strong>for</strong>e, during, and after <strong>the</strong> programs at KCPerf<strong>Arts</strong>@aol.com. The first two programs of <strong>the</strong> season as well as<br />
<strong>the</strong> 2004-2005 programs are archived on <strong>the</strong> website at www.kennedy-center.org/pwtv where background in<strong>for</strong>mation, resources, and<br />
instructional activities can also be found.<br />
THE KENNEDY CENTER “BETTY CARTER’S JAZZ AHEAD” RESIDENCY PROGRAM<br />
The <strong>Kennedy</strong> <strong>Center</strong> Education Department is currently accepting applications <strong>for</strong> “Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead,” an intense, week-long<br />
residency program <strong>for</strong> international jazz musician-composers under <strong>the</strong> age of 30. During <strong>the</strong> residency - to be held April 12-22, 2006,<br />
at <strong>the</strong> <strong>Kennedy</strong> <strong>Center</strong> in Washington, DC - participants will refine <strong>the</strong>ir composing and per<strong>for</strong>mance skills under <strong>the</strong> tutelage of jazz<br />
mentors, <strong>the</strong>n per<strong>for</strong>m original jazz compositions on <strong>the</strong> <strong>Kennedy</strong> <strong>Center</strong> Millennium Stage. The application deadline is December 16,<br />

PARTNERS IN EDUCATION ANNUAL MEETING 2006 REGISTRATION INFORMATION<br />
Registration in<strong>for</strong>mation <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> 2006 Annual Meeting was mailed to teams that have returned <strong>the</strong>ir Partnership Agreement Update,<br />
Annual Report, and <strong>the</strong> full amount of <strong>the</strong>ir annual dues (<strong>for</strong> Phase II teams). According to Partners in Education Advisory Committee<br />
policy, only teams in good standing can be invited to attend <strong>the</strong> Annual Meeting, which means that you must have submitted <strong>the</strong><br />
documents and dues listed above. If you have any questions about <strong>for</strong>ms needed or your team’s standing, contact Amanda Long.<br />

NOMINATION REVIEW COMMITTEE 2005-06<br />
Roxanne Gilpatrick of CA 2003 has volunteered to serve on <strong>the</strong> NRC and was invited to join Joan Ashcraft (AZ 96), Marilyn Davidson<br />
(AK 93), Kim Keats (SC92), and Barbara Shepherd as members of this year’s committee. They will administer <strong>the</strong> Advisory<br />
Committee nominations and elections through September 2006. We look <strong>for</strong>ward to working with <strong>the</strong>se members in <strong>the</strong> coming<br />
months and appreciate <strong>the</strong>ir service.<br />
CALL FOR NOMINATIONS: THE ADVISORY COMMITTEE<br />
The 2005-2006 Nomination Review Committee calls <strong>for</strong> nominations <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> Partners in Education Advisory Committee elections.<br />
Members of <strong>the</strong> Advisory Committee represent <strong>the</strong> Partners in Education network and serve a three-year term promoting <strong>the</strong> best<br />
interests of all Partners in Education participants. Terms begin immediately following <strong>the</strong> Annual Meeting election, however, <strong>the</strong> first<br />
Advisory Committee meeting <strong>for</strong> new members is in <strong>the</strong> summer immediately following <strong>the</strong> Annual Meeting at which <strong>the</strong>y were elected.<br />
Representatives serve without stipend but have hotel, airfare, and some meal expenses paid related to <strong>the</strong>ir two meetings each year at<br />
<strong>the</strong> <strong>Kennedy</strong> <strong>Center</strong>. The following criteria will be used when considering nominations:<br />
1. All nominees who represent teams must be members in good standing of Phase II in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Kennedy</strong> <strong>Center</strong> Partners in Education<br />
program.<br />
2. Nominees must agree to attend two (2) scheduled meetings at <strong>the</strong> <strong>Kennedy</strong> <strong>Center</strong> per year.<br />
3. Members may not serve consecutive terms on <strong>the</strong> Advisory Committee, but may be re-elected after rotating off <strong>the</strong> Committee <strong>for</strong><br />
a period of three years.<br />
Although only Phase II team members can serve on <strong>the</strong> Advisory Committee, all team members may nominate Advisory Committee<br />
representatives. Nominations are due to <strong>the</strong> <strong>Kennedy</strong> <strong>Center</strong> by November 14.<br />
