TREKKING EXPEDITION TO THE BASE OF
PANCHACHULI PEAKS
Panchachuli, as the name suggests is a group of 5 peaks in the
Darma valley of Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand.
Panchachuli derives its name from the five peaks named after
the legendary pandavas. Pithoragarh district itself is endowed
with abundant scenic grandeur. The Dharma valley is one of the
most scenic spots in Uttarakhand. It nestles snugly in the lap of
the snow capped peaks of the Panchachuli. Keeping all this in
view the Association has launched this trek. The route is
chalked out keeping in view the first timers as well as the
experienced. 134 kms. from Pithoragarh and 40 kms. from
Dharchula is the last bus terminal – Dar. Dar is the entry point
to the Dharma valley and is ensconced by the Dhauli Ganga
river. From Dar to Panchachuli glacier is a 32 kilometre trek.
The route to the glacier abounds in exotic scenery, snowcapped
mountains, gushing streams, alpine meadows, and a rich variety
of flora and fauna. From the glacier one can see the Panchachuli
peaks in all its majestic splendor. From Dar, the trek passes
through Urthing, Nagling, Baaling, & Saun. The glacier can be
seen from the Saun/Duktu villages in the Darma valley. Yuli
river originates about 4 kms. away near the base of
Panchachuli. The five peaks create an unforgettable spectre of
Him Khand. Yuli river is skirted by jungles of Deodhar, Bhoj
patra and vast meadows. The group strength is restricted to
25 members and will be filled up on first come first basis
irrespective of the last dates mentioned.

In terms of transportation, food, accommodation,
administrative expenses, tent age; complete camping
facilities, technical gear, experienced instructors, guides,
camp helpers, etc.
* Up to Delhi and back, the participants will have to make
own transport arrangements as per his/her convenience.
However, in case a group opts for a particular
mode/class; the Association can help in reservations on
actual cost basis.
15/02/2013 by payment of 50% fee and the balance
on or before 15/03/2013.

All details pertinent to the expedition like items to carry,
bus timings, reporting point, contact numbers etc., will be
given on the day of briefing which will be held at least 10
days prior to the date of departure.

Average trek per day would be around 12 kms.
Maximum height gained during the trek 11,500 ft approx.
Tented accommodation/TRH/Village stay (separately for boys and girls).
Good wholesome vegetarian food.
Excellent route for first timers as well as the experienced
One experienced and qualified mountaineer from the Association will
accompany the team.
A centralized medical kit will be carried.
