With MicroPress Plus Konica Minolta and EFI present a
breakthrough in controller technology for the management
of on-demand production printing. Suitable for an
extensive range of applications in the digital production
market, this is a tremendous step forward in performance

MicroPress Plus comes with a user-friendly unified GUI,
which communicates in an identical fashion with any
system in the bizhub PRO production range. It has the
capacity to link up to four print systems, including one
or two colour devices; and it can allocate print jobs in
the most effective manner. This includes colour splitting
and cluster printing, both particularly welcome for the
rapid and efficient completion of mission-critical jobs.
Outstanding print quality is assured with the extensive
and remarkably effective suites of document
makeready and editing facilities as well as Konica
Minolta’s state-of-the-art print technology.

The backbone of any digital production printing environment, Konica Minolta’s colour and b/w production systems
stand for professional quality printing at remarkable speed coupled with exceptional versatility and reliability. Up
to four production devices can be combined with one MicroPress Plus controller, among them up to two colour
systems. Where required, an optional extension of MicroPress Plus can link more devices, serving higher demands
and more extensive volume requirements.

The workhorse for black & white
This affordable but powerful production system for
central in-house printing facilities and external print-forpay
services combines a sturdy and reliable construction,
high performance and numerous inline finishing
possibilities with advanced technologies for enhanced
black and white print quality. The bizhub PRO 950
impresses with its high media flexibility and processes
up to 300 gsm paper. It delivers up to 5,700 prints per
hour, has an input capacity of up to 6,650 sheets and
up to 3,200 sheets output capacity and can handle a
maximum of 750,000 prints per month.

Digital colour printing at its best
Offering impressive speed and absolute reliability,
bizhub PRO C5501 and bizhub PRO C6501 stand
for versatile yet cost-effective digital colour printing
with outstanding image quality, thanks to Simitri HD®
(High Definition), Konica Minolta’s own polymerised
toner. With up to 55 and 65 colour prints per minute,
these systems have a maximum monthly duty cycle of
250,000 (C5501) and 300,000 prints (C6501). Equipped
with up to 4,250 sheets paper input and max. 3,100
sheets output capacity, both process media of up to
300 gsm and feature versatile finishing capabilities,
including booklet production for up to 80 pages.

Ingenius in quality and modularity
With more than 40 different system configurations,
bizhub PRO 1051 and PRO 1200 provide speed, efficiency,
productivity and flawless quality in combination
with almost limitless flexibility and customisation to
individual user demands. They can be configured to a
max. capacity of 14,000 sheets in 8 paper magazines
and process media up to 350 gsm. At up to 105 and
120 prints per minute or 6,300 and 7,200 prints per
hour (PRO 1051/PRO 1200), the bizhub PRO 1051 is
good for max. 2 million prints while the bizhub PRO
1200 has a maximum duty cycle of 3 million prints per
month. Their extensive finishing versatility includes perfect
binding and the production of trimmed booklets as
well as the inline combination of booklet maker, perfect
binder and staple finisher in a single digital production
system.

Colour production printing par excellence
Equipped for simply outstanding performance, the
bizhub PRO C6501e/eP has the speed and all the other
capabilities of the bizhub PRO C6501 and so much
more. 16 versatile configurations leave virtually nothing
to be desired, featuring a paper input capacity of up
to 7,500 sheets and an output capacity of max. 5,000
sheets and including comprehensive finishing, e.g.
booklets of 200 pages, 6 different folding modes.

PrintStation Manager

The PrintStation Manager is the control tool for all
print jobs and is designed to maximise productivity.
It is equipped with an all-em bra cing Graphical
User Interface (GUI) which is intuitive, extremely
user-friendly and requires an incredibly short learning
curve. The en joy ment of the sheer simplicity and
straight for ward ness is further heightened in the
know ledge that all print engines are controlled in an
identical manner. A truly universal solution.
The PrintStation Manager deals entirely with ripped
data. This produces these essential benefits:
n Compatibility between different sets of data
(e.g. Word, QuarkXPress, PDF) is assured. The
complete independance from the original application
and author means the Key Operator can entirely
concentrate on the quality of the document. This
is particularly advantageous for merging and
editing of documents.
n Printing can take place immediately once the data
has been edited and/or processed.

General Information

Document Make-Ready
An extensive range of options designed to
streamline document production and finishing.
n Imposition – The following Imposition
templates are available: Booklet, perfect
bound, stack and repeat, cut and marry
and double mint as well as user defined.
After the document is essentially finished
the Imposition template is selected and the
PrintStation Manager automatically prepares
the arrangement of pages for printing.
Imposition
n Document Merge – As all documents are in
the ripped form they can be combined at
will. This is a remarkable benefit and enables
the Key Operator to speedily produce the
required new documents without needing
to consider compatibility. For example, a
new document can be produced from components
created by different applications.
n Page Numbering – The addition of numbers
to pages – generally required after merging
and editing.
Document merge
n Archive – For the freeing of valuable
storage space and the optimisation of print
job organisation each print job can be
stored where it is required. Further flexibility
is achieved with the use of the PDF format
or other formats.
n Forms – Insertion of personalised and/or
variable specific data onto a basis of a
particular form.
n Media Catalogue – The five magazines for
paper input are internally pre-determined.
There is of course the option to introduce
new media. The Key Operator needs only
specify the media required and the PSM
automatically selects the correct magazine.
n Preview – The presentation of the print job
page by page on the screen.

The PSM is also equipped with a complete
monitoring service. This enables the Key
Operator to maintain an overall view of the
status of all aspects of the entire production
process, plan replacements and top-ups
and, in the event of irregularities, to respond
im me diately. This is a great all-round timesaver.

Full view and
refinement
TrueEdit
At the heart of TrueEdit is the first class Preview
function. This tool has the power to display the
whole document or any subset of the document on
the screen, naturally including thumbnails at page
level to indicate each finishing decision. The Key
Operator can then immediately edit at page level or
organise the whole or any subset of the document.
The Preview function is pure versatilty at a mindboggling
speed, consequently reducing proof printing
to a rare occurrence.
Further major benefits of using only ripped data
soon become obvious with the application of
TrueEdit. The available editing tools are very effective,
fulfill all needs and are operated with amazing
speed and ease. The complete independence from
the original application and author means the Key
Operator can concentrate entirely on the quality of
the document.

TrueColor
A superfine software suite from EFI incorpora ting RIP
calibration and colour matching within an exemplary
GUI.
n Gammatic
Gammatic is the premier tool for the automatic calibration
and colour balancing of the bizhub PRO colour products.
Maximum density, grey balance and linearisation are all
set in a single step and the printer response is modified
to match the critical ICC colour profiles. Gammatic also
provides a consistent platform for printing RGB, CMY
and other proprietary spot colour models.
n ConTune
ConTune assures colour consistency and quality across
several of the bizhub PRO colour products. The sliders
provide an easy visual “fine tune” and the curve function
offers precise control. If necessary the calibration can
be perio dically checked. Calibrations can be saved and
applied to one or more of the bizhub PRO colour devices.
n ICC Profile Processor
This intelligently maps each colour system to the correct
CMYK values for each printer. It can automatically
recognise RGB, CMYK, Lab and Spot Colours even
when mixed on the same page.
n Spot Colour Matching
Incorporating a unique spot colour handling system,
this is the most accurate Pantone® colour matching in
the industry. For even easier colour selection the spot
colours can be printed as a swatch.
n TrueCurves – Universal Curve Creation
This is a comprehensive seamless approach to colour
quality variation. The four toner curves, one for each
of CMYK, can be ad justed together or individually
through anchor points and mouse drag. There is also
the hue circle and the brightness and contrast sliders.
TrueCurves is an infinitely variable colour control
system. To complete the ease of operation the effects
of the changes can be viewed on the screen alongside
the original throughout the adjustment process.

These user-friendly options are available for the
fine tuning of the following processes in order
to maximise black and white print quality. Each
change can be saved and is then applied to all
subsequent ripping of documents in the respective
category.
■ TrueCurve
This is particularly beneficial for the improvement
of photographs, and other graphical elements.
Throughout the adjustment pro cess the effects of
the changes can be viewed on screen alongside
the original. As well as contrast and brightness
sliders there is the completely versatile, graphically
displayed toner curve to evenly adjust toner
coverage in particular parts of the document.
■ Screening Setup
LPI, dot shape and raste angle play an im portant
role in the quality of digital printing. Screening
Setup is an intuitive and straightforward tool
so that the Key Operator can experiment with
various settings for each of the three in oder to
maximise the quality of the finished product.
■ RIP Setup
Easy adjustment of the RIP via the user-friendly
GUI.

Reliable control is of essential importance in print
environments – the more so the more complex the
workflows are and the more interaction is required
among the various connected printing systems.
Giving the key operator complete control over any
production process, MicroPress Plus links up to
four of Konica Minolta’s digital production systems.
MicroPress Max is additionally available for more
extensive volume requirements and even more comprehensive
installations, linking up to five systems
where colour devices are involved, or a maximum of
twelve black & white production devices.
