Feel free to add your goals and help supporting in the realization of the ERIC goals
Increase the communication between the countries REM and EUCO events are increasingly popular.
This is a very nice evolution since it increases the network between the countries.

Finances:
In contrast to the expenses at REM Amsterdam for Pins, Country Rep Pins, Board Pins, Newsletters this
semester the main cost was the printing of the newsletters. It has been decided that in future this cost
will be cut (see Marketing section). Therefore the ERIC account keeps its balance and amounts up to
about €5000. Our treasurer will keep this balance over the term in order for us to have a stable financial
situation.
Marketing:
Newsletter nr 2 is distributed and will be sent to you in digital version. Hard copy versions were
distributed during the meeting. There is a special subsection about Serbia and Austria.
It was decided that the newsletter will only be available in digital format. The money saved will be
used to support a social project We will decide on which project at the EUCO.

Rotary Outstanding Project Awards (Project should be finished last year)
Country Reps will be responsible to select max 3 projects from his country and send them in by 12 th of
March. The criteria for TCA and BESP on which you will have to base the selection will be sent by the
29 th of January 2011. On the 23th of april 2011 the judges will send their results back to
social@rotaracteurope.org
For the Rotary Outstanding Project Award the criteria can be found on the Rotary website
www.rotary.org and the projects should be sent in directly to Rotary.
The judges for BESP and TCA were selected among the country reps.

Update Autumn REM 2011
The Autumn REM 2011 will be organized in Wraslow Poland. The program is fully defined and seems to
be a very nice balance between culture and party . As soon as booking starts you will all be informed.
Everyone is already looking forward to this weekend!
Winter REM 2012
Our congratulations to the Sestriere team of Italy who won the Winter REM 2012. We would also like to
thank Switserland: Lausanne and Turkey: Ephesus for their great presentations. Competition was very
strong.
EUCO 2012
Two candidates presented their EUCO bid: Moscow and Thessaloniki No voting was done, however
based on the feedback candidates will ake their final presentation at EUCO 2011.

Gambasse Project
European Rotaract Information Centre
International project of Spain to bring all the clubs together in the framework of a long-term project.
Main key difference with other projects is that the members go on site and do the work themselves:
education, rebuilding a school and building a new primary school. Moreover the aim is to improve the
medical situation. In addition the project is providing the village with electricity by means of
photovoltaic cells and teaching the principles of waste treatment. Now in a last phase a nutricial center
is built. This phase is going on right now and includes the construction of kitchens, bring food,...
Eco project: Infinite Energy Foundation
Two sponsors were found:
– At EUCO 2011 a workshop will be organised in cooperation with RWE
– The first promotional poster was made by Digital Neighbours and will be sent around next week

Eco driving day:

Clubs are encouraged to organize the eco driving day in their country. All info can be found on the flyer
which is downloadable from our eco website and shown below:

European Rotaract Information Centre
The first country to actually organize this eco driving day is San Marino. The event will be a full weekend.
On day one we can learn the skills of extreme car handling and eco driving on a circuit in Rimini. On the
second day a carting event with electric carts will be organized in the new ecologic carting indoor track
of San Marino. We are all looking forward to hearing more details.
Thanks also to all the reps and countries that competed in the champagne contest. At the EUCO there
will be new bottles.
Details of about the different ecology related awards were given. All details will be published on the
website.
Furthermore we would like the REM host organizing team for organizing the wonderful tree planting
event during the REM.

Mapability
European Rotaract Information Centre
The Mapability workshop focused on creating awareness on the Mapability project and how to create an
accessibility map.
The workshop dealt primarily in showing what needs to be done once a Rotaract club decides to create
their accessibility map:
- choose most relevant streets inside the city they want to map
- create a list for accessible shops and public places based on 3 parameters: door width, entrance and
facilities.
- start taking geo-localized photos of sidewalks and upload them with the Mapability Photo Uploader
Tool
- cooperate with Mapability team to create the accessible paths on the online map.
The workshop raised a series of questions, especially related to the economic side of the project. It is
now clear that an attempt should be made in checking with local authorities if there is a way to finance
the project, given the very low cost of mapping a big part of a city
Material will be spread to those who expressed interest in order to spread the Mapability project in
their countries. This will soon be sent via email.

REM money issue
The participants agreed on following actions steps:
We will have two votes about the issue of increasing the fee. First vote is on a change of ERIC bylaws
concerning participants fee for REMs and EuCos increase by 30 €. Second vote will be on adding an
annually increase (defined by European Central Bank inflation) to stop discussions about prices every
single year again.
It was a short, but still a very fruitful workshop.

ECO workshop
We need a video to promote the infinite energy foundation. We are thinking about making it into a
contest for students and are trying to find an appropriate price for the candidates.
