<strong>The</strong> <strong>IRIS</strong> <strong>Center</strong>’s signature <strong>in</strong>teractive modules apply the How People<br />

<strong>Learn</strong> theory developed by Dr. John Bransford and his colleagues,<br />

and are based on cognitive science research. <strong>The</strong> modules deliver<br />

<strong>in</strong>formation through the STAR Legacy Cycle, an award-w<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g<br />

teach<strong>in</strong>g approach.<br />

Modules beg<strong>in</strong> with a realistic Challenge <strong>in</strong>tended to capture the<br />

user’s attention. Initial Thoughts questions allow users to explore and<br />

consider what they currently know <strong>about</strong> the scenario presented <strong>in</strong><br />

the Challenge. Perspectives & Res<strong>our</strong>ces pages present users with<br />

nuggets of <strong>in</strong>formation (e.g., audio <strong>in</strong>terviews, video clips, activities)<br />

to actively engage them <strong>in</strong> learn<strong>in</strong>g the module’s ma<strong>in</strong> content. <strong>The</strong><br />

Wrap Up asks users to review a summary of the module’s content.<br />
