IOM is leading the registration of IDPs in accessible and
prioritized IDP sites. To date, 93,679 displaced persons have
been registered across the country.
As of 27 January, a total of 1,300 newly arrived IDPs and
Third Country Nationals have been relocated from the UN
Tomping base to UN House by IOM. Approximately 76%
of the individuals moved were foreign nationals. Further
movements are on hold due to lack of space at UN House.
EMERGENCY SHELTER AND NON-FOOD ITEMS
As lead of the Emergency Shelter and Non-Food Item
(ES/NFI) Cluster in South Sudan, IOM provides essential
household items and emergency shelter materials to conflictand
disaster-affected populations as well as returnees. IOM
also manages the Shelter and NFI Core Pipeline, a mechanism
to ensure that key NFIs and emergency shelter materials are
prepositioned in strategic locations and ready to be deployed
rapidly.
Since the onset of the crisis, 164,055 individuals have
benefitted from NFIs – including blankets, buckets, sleeping
mats, jerry cans, kitchen utensils, cotton fabric, mosquito nets
and soap – delivered by IOM and partners.
REFUGEE RESPONSE
Doro Camp WASH Response
As lead provider of WASH assistance in Maban County’s
Doro Camp, IOM is continuing to meet the needs of the
camp’s refugee population. All key water, hygiene and
sanitation minimum requirements are satisfied in the camp.
Due to the ongoing crisis in the country, replenishment of
fuel supplies has proven to be a challenge in Maban. Maban
WASH partners, in consultation with community leaders,
decided last week to reduce the hours of water supply in
order to save fuel. After several days of monitoring, however,
there has been no significant decline in water delivery, as the
valves are being closed during off-peak hours.
WASH Interventions in Doro Camp
COMMON TRANSPORT SERVICE
The IOM-operated Common Transport Service (CTS), a
free service for transporting humanitarian supplies in South
Sudan, is helping partners to deliver aid across the country.
Since 15 December, 47 users have utilized CTS capacity to
move approximately 860 metric tons. IOM is one of the
few providers of transportation assistance for humanitarian
actors in the country.
