He describes a scene we don’t see in the play – we only hear about it from him. The exercise: Write a short story elaborating Jaques de Boys’s account of Duke Frederick’s conversion. Questions to consider: o How does the conversion really happen? o Is Jaques de Boys telling the truth? o What else might have happened to Duke Frederick besides what Jaques says? Possible extensions: Create a screenplay from this story. Film it at school, using students and teachers as actors. Use it as a “bonus feature” in your class’s film version of As You Like It.
