<strong>ASSISTANT</strong> STORE MANAGER<br />

REPORTS TO: Store Manager<br />

EXEMPTION STATUS: Non-Exempt<br />

Summary of <strong>Position</strong>:<br />

Supports store manager with management and coordination of the daily operations of the<br />

store and the daily activities of the sales staff engaged in promoting and selling products to<br />

ensure customer satisfaction. Partners with store manager to maximize sales and build high<br />

performing teams. Develops new relationships and interacts with existing customers to<br />

increase sales. Attains quarterly sales and SPH goals.<br />

Duties and Responsibilities<br />

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.<br />

SALES:<br />

□ Support store manager to reach store goals.<br />

□ Ensure SPH goals are being met or exceeded.<br />

□ Maintain knowledge of Tumi products and service.<br />

□ Partner with store manager to deliver consistent increases in sales performance.<br />

□ Meet minimum conversion rate of 10%.<br />

□ Assist store manager with training all associates on <strong>TUMI</strong> PRO.<br />

□ Exemplify <strong>TUMI</strong> PRO process.<br />

□ Assist with product training for new associates.<br />

□ Support the Tumi Customer Experience.<br />

□ Partner with store manager to enforce superior customer service through emphasis on client<br />

books, note cards, attention to customers and development of staff.<br />

□ Support the implementation of established sales promotion policies and programs.<br />

HUMAN RESOURCES:<br />

□ Partner with store manager to Hire the Best. Following Tumi’s hiring process, continuously<br />

recruits and interviews candidates.<br />

□ In absence of store manager, supervise and coordinate the daily activities of sales associates<br />

in promoting and selling products.<br />

□ Ensure maximum effectiveness of sales associates by working with store manager and HR to<br />

develop and implement a training program.<br />

□ Partner with store manager to resolve performance related issues through the <strong>TUMI</strong> Stores,<br />

Inc. Performance Management policy. This may include: Conducting performance reviews<br />

and suggesting merit increases as supported by corporate policy.<br />

□ In absence of store manager, verify and approve associate’s work time for payroll processing<br />

assuring accurate time is recorded.<br />

□ Understand process of scheduling work hours, days off and vacations within <strong>TUMI</strong>’s policy.<br />

□ Understand and maintain current knowledge of <strong>TUMI</strong>’s benefit plan. Train associates how to<br />

use the Benefit eXpert Program and ensure regular updates of personal information.<br />

COMMUNICATION:<br />

□ Communicate information concerning employee relations, merchandise and operations<br />

regularly, and no less than a weekly basis, to store manager.<br />

□ Partner with store manager to conduct regular staff meetings for the purpose of discussing<br />

selling skills, policy implementation or changes, merchandise, etc.<br />

□ Present and discuss the weekly newsletter. Obtain signatures from associates and maintain<br />

record of newsletter.<br />

□ Understand how to report merchandise status, fast sellers, slow sellers, deficiencies, buying<br />

trends, etc. to district or regional manager.<br />

□ In absence of store manager, diffuse customer service concerns.<br />

MERCHANDISING:<br />

□ Support store manager with directing and coordinating proper merchandising of the store as<br />

directed by visual guidelines.<br />

□ Implement correct usage of interior signage.<br />

□ Insure that all stock is well maintained and in good condition.<br />

□ Follow directives to design and arrange store displays to attract customers.<br />

OPERATIONS:<br />

□ Open and close the store.<br />

□ Maintain appropriate records and receipts for all products sold. Ensure that cash registers<br />

and money intake balance daily.<br />

□ Ensure name capture is attempted at every transaction.<br />

□ In absence of store manager, supervise and maintain accuracy of price changes, transfers<br />

and daily, weekly or monthly summaries and records.<br />

□ Verify shipments are processed and accurately vouchered within 24 hours of receipt.<br />

□ Understand how to maintain equipment – register, pace machine, sensormatic alarm system,<br />

HVAC, etc.<br />

□ Maintain a secure and hazard free environment.<br />

□ Maintain a neat, clean and well-organized shopping environment.<br />

□ Ensure that all safety processes are continuously in tact and conduct monthly safety reviews.<br />

LOSS PREVENTION:<br />

□ Partner with store manager to control shrinkage and assist with loss prevention awareness<br />

training of staff.<br />

□ Monitor shipments, transfers and price changes for accuracy.<br />

□ Partner with store manager to plan, conduct and organize store for inventory on a seasonal<br />

or as needed basis.<br />

□ Ensure accurate reconciliation of registers.<br />

□ Notify store manager of camera/monitor malfunctions.<br />
