Cristina Benitez, Program Coordinator<br />
Cristina Benitez is glad to join the SAIS community as the Program Coordinator<br />
for the Energy, Resources, & Environment Program. Ms Benitez has worked for<br />
Georgetown University’s Center for Social Justice advancing service learning <strong>and</strong><br />
community-based research among the DC Consortium of Universities. Her most<br />
recent work has covered a variety of projects for public <strong>and</strong> private ventures<br />
including constituent communications for a government agency <strong>and</strong> the strategic<br />
start-up of a local business.<br />
Cristina Benitez attended Trinity Washington University for her BA in Public<br />
Policy <strong>and</strong> the Georgetown University Public Policy Institute for graduate studies<br />
in Nonprofit Executive Management.<br />
Shonda Hurt, Administrative Coordinator<br />
Shonda Hurt is the new Administrative Coordinator of the Energy, Resources <strong>and</strong><br />
Environment Program at the <strong>Johns</strong> <strong>Hopkins</strong> University School of Advanced<br />
International Studies. She has a diverse background in consulting <strong>and</strong><br />
project/event management <strong>and</strong> has acquired over 10 years of experience<br />
planning <strong>and</strong> executing hundreds of events for major corporations. A project that<br />
she is particularly proud of is the “Why Can’t We All Just Buckle Up” campaign<br />
that she helped to create <strong>and</strong> execute in a joint partnership with the National<br />
Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).<br />
She holds dual BA degrees in Business <strong>and</strong> Communications from the University<br />
of Pittsburgh.<br />
