American Record Corporation (ARC) Master Recording Dates, 1929-1938 by Allan Sutton
Soft Cover, 6" x 9", 188 pp Nauck's Price $26
Newly compiled from original ARC source materials, this guide provides exact recording dates for more than 21,000 masters from the founding of ARC in January 1929 to its
sale to CBS at the end of 1938. The discography covers sessions in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Augusta, Hattiesburg, El Paso, San Antonio, etc. that were issued on
labels such as Banner, Melotone, Perfect, Fox Movietone, Okeh, Columbia, Brunswick, Roycroft, Vocalion, Regal, Romeo, Mel-O-Dee, Commodore, Conqueror and many
more. Yet another stellar addition to the discographical library from our friends at Mainspring Press!
Edison Amberol Cylinders: Complete U.S. & Foreign Issues, 1908-1913 by Allan Sutton
Soft Cover, 7" x 9", 256 pp Nauck's Price $36
The first complete listing of Edison’s 4 minute wax output, this is the companion volume to Sutton’s Blue Amberol cylinderography. Listings include recording and release
dates, conductors, accompanists, vocal group personnel, artist pseudonyms, composer and show credits, a history of Amberol cylinders and artist and title indexes.
Paramount’s Rise and Fall: The Roots & History of Paramount Records (Revised Edition) by Alex van der Tuuk
Soft Cover, 6" x 9", 282 pp w/illustrations Nauck's Price $36
First published in 2003 (and long since out of print), this work has now been revised and expanded. In addition to updated information, the book includes two brand new
sections: an illustrated history of the studio and pressing plant site and a chapter on post-NYRL attempts to revive the label.
Paul Whiteman, Pioneer in American Music: Vol 1, 1890-1930 by Don Rayno
Hard Cover, 7" x 10", 840 pp w/illustrations Nauck's Price $59
Paul Whiteman, Pioneer in American Music: Vol 2, 1930-1967 by Don Rayno
Hard Cover, 7" x 10", 824 pp w/illustrations Nauck's Price $81
In 2003, Don Rayno published the 1 st volume of a massive work chronicling the life and music of Paul Whiteman, “King of Jazz.” Though we seldom feature books dedicated
to individual artists, this volume was truly remarkable, and I decided to bring it to the attention of my customers. Ten years later, I am thrilled to be able to announce that the
work is finally complete. In these 2 volumes you’ll not only get to know Whiteman as never before, but you’ll also get a day-by-day chronology, a comprehensive discography,
a detailed listing of all the soloists and sidemen who played for him, a song index and some great photos. If you love his music, you’ll treasure these books!
Through My Monocle: Memoirs of the Famous Basso by Andreas Perello DeSegurola, edited by Dr. George Creegan
Soft Cover, 6" x 9", 484 pp w/illustrations & cassette Nauck's Price $25
As mentioned in the Forward, the name of DeSegurola may be more familiar to most readers as the man for whom Caruso sang Vecchia zimarra (see Lots 2177 & 2220) than
for any work or accomplishment of his own. However, DeSegurola was an enormously talented singer who led a very successful career both on the stage and in the recording
studio. His memoirs were published in 1990 by scholar, puppeteer and record dealer George Creegan. In these pages you will read of the singer’s career, loves and
friendships with statesmen, monarchs and celebrities. Also included is a discography, reminiscences by those who knew him and a bonus cassette containing some of his
recordings and two 1946 interviews. There is a limited supply of this book and cassette set, so orders will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
