Zone (EEZ) due <strong>to</strong> increased weather related marine accidents and dense traffic. These are manda<strong>to</strong>ry for all<br />
Indian ships and vessels transiting through the ODA and recommenda<strong>to</strong>ry for all foreign flag ships and<br />
vessels irrespective of size.<br />
(b) Recommended routes have been established along the coast of Gujarat. These are <strong>to</strong> assist mariners<br />
<strong>to</strong> navigate safely in order <strong>to</strong> represent the best routes for crossing traffic and <strong>to</strong> minimize head-on<br />
encounters in vicinity of Oilfield Development Areas and regulate coastal traffic. <strong>Mariners</strong> are advised <strong>to</strong><br />
keep 1 <strong>to</strong> 2 miles starboard of the shown routes consistent with Rules of the Road.<br />
(c) Traffic Separation Schemes (TSS). The TSS off Mumbai harbour is manda<strong>to</strong>ry for all Indian and<br />
foreign flag ships and vessels entering and leaving Mumbai harbour and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust<br />
(JNPT)/ Nhava-Sheva harbour irrespective of size.
