Distribution of <strong>Scholarship</strong>s / Awards – <strong>University</strong> Day<br />
From <strong>2009</strong> - 10 onwards – Reg.<br />
It is proposed to adopt the following scheme of scholarship /<br />
award distribution from the academic year <strong>2009</strong>-<strong>2010</strong> onwards.<br />
I<br />
All the awards shall be based on Merit (ie., based on the marks<br />
obtained in the examination and as per the rank list furnished by the<br />
COE).<br />
Re-admitted / Re-registered / Debarred candidates are not eligible<br />
for scholarship / award and their names will not be considered<br />
for the total strength calculations.<br />
Only the candidates who have passed all the examinations in<br />
the first appearance are eligible for <strong>Scholarship</strong> / Award.<br />
(Supplementary marks are not considered).<br />
Awards will be given to the students who have more than 75%<br />
attendance and have no disciplinary proceedings against them.<br />
<strong>Scholarship</strong> will be awarded for each degree programme for each<br />
year (and not for each batch).<br />
Students are eligible for ONE SCHOLARSHIP / AWARD ONLY, (except<br />
Chancellor’s Gold Medal) even though their names are recommended<br />
for other scholarships.<br />
External Sponsored Awards to the students will be recommended by<br />
the corresponding schools. Directors may constitute a committee for<br />
this purpose.<br />
Funds received from various Institutions / Organizations /<br />
Companies will be distributed to the First Rank Holder (Best student<br />
in the class) combined with the <strong>VIT</strong> Award. Two separate Merit<br />
Certificates will be issued to the candidate.<br />
Prizes instituted by Industries / Organizations / Companies / Individual<br />
a. Mahindra Plexion Gold Medal / Award<br />
b. Mrs. Usha Mukanda Rao Award for Meritorious Students in German<br />
Language<br />
c. Nicholas Piramal India Ltd.<br />
<strong>Scholarship</strong> amount will be deposited to the student’s Bank Account,<br />
dispensing with the present system of issuing cheque. All the award<br />
winning students should open account with the Indian Bank - <strong>VIT</strong><br />
Branch to facilitate the above.<br />

II<br />
Details of Award amount to various programmes:-<br />
For all I year to Final year students.<br />
<strong>Scholarship</strong> will be awarded to Top 10 students or 10% of the total<br />
strength of Branch whichever is less.<br />
Maximum of 10 and a Minimum of 3 <strong>Scholarship</strong> will be awarded to<br />
each Branch.<br />

For NRI / Foreign students:<br />
All the under graduate students are eligible for the scholarship.<br />
The top 10% meritorious students ( NRI & Foreign ) ( I year to<br />
final year ) will be given the <strong>Scholarship</strong>.<br />
If any student is eligible for the NRI / Foreign <strong>Scholarship</strong> and the<br />
regular scholarship he / she will receive only the one with higher<br />
monetary value. This carries a <strong>Scholarship</strong> of Rs.1000/- (Book<br />
Coupon) and a Merit Certificate.<br />

Cent Percent Attendance<br />
Regarding the award for the Cent Percent Attendance,<br />
statement should reach the Registrar’s Office on the last working<br />
day of the Fall semester (Attendance details will be collected<br />
directly from the CTS department, and not from the<br />
Schools, which will sent to the respective school Directors for<br />
Certification) and also displayed in intranet for the students<br />
information. This carries a <strong>Scholarship</strong> of Rs.1000/- and a Merit<br />
Certificate.<br />
Financial Assistance <strong>Scholarship</strong><br />
Regarding the Financial Assistance to deserving<br />
(Economically backward class) students, it is proposed to<br />
constitute a committee (Faculty members) which will<br />
recommend the deserving students for award of financial<br />
assistance. Eligibility Criteria: Annual family income should not<br />
exceed Rs.1,00,000/- (One lakh only) Applications are available<br />
in Students Record Section.<br />
Endowment Award<br />
This Award will be distributed during the <strong>University</strong> Day<br />
Celebrations from <strong>2009</strong> – 10 onwards. (Award to the present<br />
Final Year students – based on the cumulative Academic<br />
performance up to III semester, V semester, VII semester & IX<br />
semester as the case maybe ).<br />
