3. COMMITTEE: Consideration of an Adverse Report by the Parliamentary Legal
Committee on the Electoral Amendment Bill (H.B. 3, 2011) – Hon. Mushonga
4. SECOND READING : Older Persons Bill (H. B.1,2011) – The Minister of Labour
and Social Services.
5. CO-MINISTER OF HOME AFFAIRS
THAT WHEREAS subsection (1) of Section 111B of the Constitution of
Zimbabwe provides that any convention, treaty or agreement acceded to,
concluded or executed by governments or international organisations shall be
subject to approval by Parliament;
WHEREAS the Government of the Republic of Zimbabwe ratified the United
Nations Convention against Transitional Organisation Crime of 9 th July 2007;
AND WHEREAS the Government of the Republic of Zimbabwe now desires to
ratify the United Nations Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in
Persons, especially Women and Children;
AND WHEREAS the entry into force of the aforesaid Protocol is conditional
upon ratification by the signatory parties in accordance with their respective
constitutional procedures;
NOW THEREFORE, in terms of subsection (1) of Section 111B of the
Constitution, Parliament resolves that the aforesaid Protocol be and is hereby
approved for ratification.
