Information on levels:<br />

Level 1 – This level includes water adjustment and comfort,<br />

blowing bubbles, supported back and front floats, front<br />

paddling and back paddling.<br />

Participant should be able to enter water without assistance,<br />

submerge their face and head. Participant should also be<br />

able to push off wall under water and paddle before going<br />

on to level 2. Price: $35.00<br />

Level 2 – This level will begin with front crawl<br />

Participant must be able to perform front crawl for 5 yards<br />

with minimal assistance, able to retrieve object from<br />

underwater and front/back glide without assistance. This<br />

level also includes an introduction to diving. Price: $35.00<br />

Level 3 – Participant must be able to front crawl with rotary<br />

breathing, butterfly and breaststroke kick, and treading<br />

water. This level includes an introduction to diving and other<br />

aquatic skills.<br />

Participant should be able to swim freestyle and backstroke<br />

for 25 yards, timing of the breaststroke, butterfly for 15<br />

yards, and diving mastery.<br />

All programs are held at <strong>Blackhawk</strong> High <strong>School</strong> <strong>Swim</strong>ming Pool: Pool is located at the Fitness Center entrance of the building.


Other Aquatic Programs:<br />

Open Family <strong>Swim</strong>: Pool open to public every Monday the school is open, 7:00-9:00pm. Come for family fun and lap lanes. Join us for only<br />

$2.00 per person. Check school calendar for dates.<br />

Competitive <strong>Swim</strong> <strong>Team</strong>: This program is designed to advance the swimming career of the serious swimmer ages 5-18. It combines fun<br />

with hard work. It is goal oriented, and we compete in swim meets regularly. We are affiliated with Allegheny Mountain <strong>Swim</strong>ming and<br />

governed by USA <strong>Swim</strong>ming. Check out web page at http://www.bsdswimteam.com/ for more info.<br />

Open try-outs every Tue @ 6:00.<br />

Adult Learn to <strong>Swim</strong>: This program is intended to teach the basics of swimming. Participants will learn the basics, as well as breathing to<br />

the side for the Freestyle. Participants will be learning the basics of Backstroke, also touching on Breaststroke and the Butterfly. Red Cross<br />

safety shallow diving will also be taught. Every Wednesday @ 8:00-9:00<br />

(Must have 3 or more for a class, no lessons 12/29, 1/5, 1/12, 1/21)<br />

Masters <strong>Swim</strong>ming: Intended for ages 18 and over that enjoy swimming as a way of staying in shape, compete competitively, and who<br />

simply enjoy being in the water. Workouts will be created by the coaching staff to meet the needs and goals of the swimmer/athlete. Masters<br />

<strong>Swim</strong>mers are ex-competitive on the high school or college level, tri-athletes and adults who want to experience the sport for themselves. The<br />

program is offered 3 nights a week for one hour each session. (No lessons 12/29, 1/5, 1/12, 1/21)<br />

American Red Cross Lifeguarding: The Lifeguarding program will be offered after the conclusion of the peak swimming season and<br />

during the summer months. The program is 40 hours in length and includes 3 certifications, Lifeguarding and First Aid, CPR for the<br />

Professional Rescuer and AED, and Prevention of Disease Transmission. Cost also includes the required Manual from the American Red<br />

Cross and a CPR mask. This is open to ages 15 and older.<br />

American Red Cross Guard Start/Junior Lifeguarding: This program is designed to introduce the skills necessary to take the<br />

lifeguarding course. It will be offered through the summer months. This class covers areas such as decision making, basic first aid, and<br />

physical fitness. The program is 30 hours in length and participants will receive a certificate upon completion. Students will receive a<br />

certification in Basic Water Rescue. This is open to ages 11-14 years old.<br />
