MG John M. Urias
SMDC/ARSTRAT is at the forefront of implementing organizational
OPERATIONS
Command Update
Space is the Platform for the Way Ahead
BG Robert P. Lennox
With President Bush asking the Army to push up the date
for fielding the GMD system, we’ve been putting a great
deal of emphasis on meeting that deadline. However,
there is more going on in SMDC’s role of bringing Space
to warfighters, and this article gives an update. SMDC is
building an integrated Space picture which is necessary
for the advancement of control, command, and situational
awareness.
FORCE DEVELOPMENT
The View from (Army) Space
COL James R. Pierson
While new joint concepts are shaping the Army’s future, the
responsibility for Space operations has not changed. New
units of employment and lessons learned during Operation
Iraqi Freedom will increase the need for Army Space
Support Teams and expand the need for FA40 capabilities.
