APPLICATION PERIOD<br />

March 1 to May 15<br />

SEMESTER DATES<br />

September 1 to February 29<br />

Start <strong>of</strong> lectures: late September<br />

Examination period: January 2012; Visiting students may return home once they have taken all their<br />

exams.<br />

ONLINE REGISTRATION<br />

Students who want to be admitted as visiting students at the Faculty <strong>of</strong> Business Management and<br />

Social <strong>Sciences</strong> MUST APPLY ONLINE. For details on the registration procedure and the admission<br />

requirements please go to http://www.wiso.hs-osnabrueck.de/registration-incoming.html<br />

If you plan to take courses in German, a language pr<strong>of</strong>iciency report completed by USI<br />

Modern & Classical Languages Department.<br />

USI International Programs and Services Office will prepare the Certificate <strong>of</strong> Enrollment<br />

form and will assist with scanning the application materials if needed.<br />

All students have to bring evidence <strong>of</strong> their ability to study in German and/or English (minimum level by<br />

start <strong>of</strong> classes at HS Osnabrück: B1 as to Common European Framework <strong>of</strong> Reference:<br />

Either our template (see attachment) or another relevant language certificate can be used to prove this.<br />

If the level <strong>of</strong> German or English <strong>of</strong> your students is lower than B2 at the semester start, they will have<br />

to attend a compulsory crash course or tutorial in German or English during the first weeks <strong>of</strong> the<br />

semester. This shall help your students to improve their language skills quickly and to complete their<br />

semester abroad successfully.<br />

Please be aware that we cannot guarantee admission to the exchange program if you apply after the<br />

deadline or if your application is incomplete. Mere e-mail applications will not be accepted.<br />

Application papers must NOT be submitted BY POST; the entire application and supporting documents<br />

have to be uploaded in the <strong>Hochschule</strong> Osnabrück online application form.

Additional Information regarding the <strong>Exchange</strong> Program<br />

ONLINE LEARNING AGREEMENT<br />

The selection <strong>of</strong> modules that your students want to take at our faculty shall be made in our ONLINE<br />

LEARNING AGREEMENT (see above website). Once the choice has been approved by us, we will inform<br />

your students by e-mail so that they can print and sign their agreement, and have it approved by the<br />

responsible coordinators at your university. Afterwards a copy has to be returned to us by e-mail.<br />

PERIOD FOR COMPOSING THE ONLINE LEARNING AGREEMENT June 1 to July 5, 2011<br />

CHANGES OF THE FIRST CHOICE AT START OF SEMESTER September 20 to October 31, 2011<br />

HOUSING<br />

International students can reserve a room in a student residence via the housing service <strong>of</strong> our faculty.<br />

There are special regulations for exchange students in the pr<strong>of</strong>ile "Health and Social <strong>Sciences</strong>".<br />

Detailed information on the housing registration procedure and the documents required can be found<br />

on the website:<br />

accommodation.<br />

Important: The rooms are always fully booked quickly. Your students should therefore not wait too long<br />

with their housing applications. In fact, the housing registration deadline is the same as the one for the<br />

registration as a visiting student!<br />

INTENSIVE GERMAN LANGUAGE COURSES<br />

Information on the pre-semester German Language School and the registration procedure is available<br />

http://www.io.hs-osnabrueck.de/deutschkurse.html. Students must apply SEPARATELY for this course.<br />

This intensive language course is held shortly before the semester begins and comprises German<br />

language training on different levels (from beginners to top level). It is not compulsory, though<br />

recommended, as it does not only help your students to improve their German language skills, but also<br />

<strong>of</strong>fers an interesting cultural program. Moreover, it enables them to have a smooth transition right from

the beginning. International students and exchange students from our partner universities can<br />

additionally benefit from a reduced course fee.<br />

If your students decide to participate in the pre-semester language course, they should transfer the<br />

course fee altogether with the advance payment for the accommodation as one amount to the housing<br />

account.
