This is entirely a student driven activity and is not related to the admission process in any way.
Welcome...
Congratulations!!!! You have made it!!!
Given that all of you are going to experience academic rigor of the highest quality
in the coming academic year, we thought it would be helpful for some of you to
have a glimpse of what is to follow.
At IIM Shillong, you will interact with students from diverse backgrounds, arguably
the best amongst the country. These students are handpicked from a student
pool consisting of candidates having outstanding academic records and excellent
professional experiences. Thereby, you would be competing with the best amongst
the best.
Further, you would be introduced to diverse topics from several subjects of management
studies: probability and statistics, accounting, economics and managerial
communication. The general trend suggests that some of the students, who have
not studied these topics earlier, find it difficult to grasp the concepts quickly. For
instance, a student from engineering background generally takes much more time
and efforts to master the basic accounting concepts of credit and debit. Similarly,
students from non-engineering background tend to have a tough time coping with
probability and statistics and are generally advised to brush up a bit of probability
fundamentals before landing here.
Do remember, these are opinions and the level of pre-preparations desired would
depend solely on personal capabilities and skills. But one advice that everyone in
the batch would consensually agree to give is to thoroughly enjoy your remaining
time with friends and family. So, even if you decide to glance over some concepts,
do remember to chill out and have a good time. We have no intentions to spoil
your party mood.
We hope you would have a wonderful time ahead.
Regards
revolution in the country. This is the seventh IIM setup in collaboration with the government of Meghalaya. Inaugurated
on July 4 2008, it strives to achieve excellence in the field of managerial education, training and research.
Beginning with the meticulous short-listing of candidates for the PGP based on their academic performance and
work experience, till the finalizing of electives for the students to specialize in, there is just one word to describe
the methodology here- rigour. The strong student force, an army of corporate generals, has been trained under
‘eight day’ weeks, in cutting edge finance and economics, as well as on sustainability and governance.
The Institute has had the advantage of being introspective, right at the outset. Keeping the big picture in mind,
and yet getting hands on with details, has, hence, become a matter of habit for the participants. Setting out with
a holistic approach to matters, the goals have been clearly set for the long term sustainability.
The meticulously framed curriculum is aimed to act as a launching pad for the participants into the corporate
arena. It comprises of a rich blend of compulsory courses and electives, supplemented by specialized courses
on industry sectors.

completed the implementation of a comprehensive enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution for the management
of campus wide activities.
