Welcome to our new style Holiday brochure containing a collection of carefully 

selected tours in Britain and Europe. There are many old favourites but 

also plenty of new destinations and itineraries. 

All Kardan Travel Holidays have our superb ‘door to door service’ and for value for money 

most holidays have included excursions and admissions to places of interest. 

Also, in 2014, the majority of our tours will have a Tour Manager on board the 

coach to ensure you will be well looked after throughout your holiday.

Newquay on the Atlantic Coast is the jewel in Cornwall’s crown. 

It boasts the finest coastline and beaches in Europe and is 

unquestionably Cornwall’s finest resort. 

Tour Itinerary 

Monday – After stopping for lunch in historic Bath, we enjoy a delightful 

journey across Bodmin Moor and 

Dartmoor arriving in Newquay 

late afternoon. 

Tuesday to Thursday at leisure 

with three included excursions. 

Excursions 

A full day excursion around 

the Gold Coast via Portreath 

stopping at St Ives. We continue 

to Penzance, an ancient market 

town with wonderful views of 

St. Michael’s Mount. 

Full Day to Truro and Falmouth. 

Today we first visit Truro, 

Cornwall’s only city. With time 

to visit the beautiful cathedral 

before moving on to Falmouth, 

an historic fishing village with a 

beautiful harbour. 

A half day tour to Padstow. We 

make our way towards the Camel 

Estuary, where we make a stop 

in the traditional fishing port of 

Padstow. We return to Newquay 

in the afternoon where the rest of 

the day is at leisure. 

Friday – It’s time to return home. 

We head eastwards stopping 

at Plymouth with time for lunch, 

arriving home early evening.

THE BULB FIELDS OF HOLLAND 

& THE KEUKENHOF GARDENS 

Mon 14th April - 5 Days 

The Apollo hotel is situated in the city centre of Lelystad which 

is the capital of the province of Flevoland. Lelystad lies in the 

heart of the former Zuyder Zee region, boasting the longest 

coast line in the Netherlands and is in the midst of countless 

historic towns stretching around the Ijsselmeer. 


Monday – We travel to Calais via Eurotunnel and then passing through 

Belgium, we arrive in the Netherlands late afternoon. 

Tuesday to Thursday at leisure with three included excursions. 

Excursions 

A full day excursion to the Keukenhof Gardens. In addition to the millions of 

blooming flower bulbs and fantastic flower shows, Keukenhof has the largest 

sculpture garden in the Netherlands. 

A full day tour, first visiting the 

tulip nursery of Siem Munster. 

In the greenhouses you can see 

over 1,000,000 tulips, in different 

phases of growth in many varieties 

and colours. A beautiful sight! You 

then have an included Farmers 

buffet lunch before boarding the 

Medemblik to Hoorn steam train 

for a delightful 20km ride through 

the bulb fields of North Holland. 

You will have time in Hoorn before 

returning to Lelystad. 

Full Day – Stopping first at Zaanse 

Schans, a picturesque windmill 

village. We then visit a traditional 

cheese factory/museum and a clog 

maker, where you can see 

how these world famous Dutch 

products are made. Finally we 

visit the lively fishing village of 

Volendam situated on the borders 

of the former Zuyder Zee. 

Friday – After breakfast, we 

leave Lelystad and head back to 

the Island arriving early evening.

The beautiful Pembrokeshire National Park surrounds the 

small town of Tenby. Considered by many to be the prettiest 

resort in Wales, Tenby boasts two golden beaches, a 

picturesque harbour, quaint streets and ancient town walls. 

Just off shore lies Caldey Island which can be reached by a 

pleasant boat trip from the harbour. 


Monday – We drive westwards to Wales with a lunch stop en-route 

arriving in the resort of Tenby during the afternoon. 

Tuesday to Thursday at leisure with three included excursions. 

Excursions 

A full day excursion around the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park via the 

small villages of Newgate and 

Solva to tiny St David’s, Britains 

smallest cathedral city and shrine 

to the patron saint of Wales. 

Then onto Cardigan Bay before 

returning over the beautiful 

Preseli Hills to Tenby. 

Full Day - An enjoyable full day 

tour, firstly visiting Laugharne, the 

village from where Dylan Thomas 

wrote a great many of his works. 

We then travel via the Pendine 

Sands to the town of Carmarthen. 

A morning tour to Aberglasney 

Gardens. These Gardens were 

abandoned for over 50 years. 

Now fully restored, we are able 

to explore the ancient formal 

gardens with its pools, parapets 

and cloisters in all their glory. 

Friday – After breakfast, we leave 

Tenby and head home stopping at 

Bristol to visit Isambard Kingdom 

Brunel’s SS Great Britain steam 

ship. Here you will also have time 

for lunch. We arrive back on the 

Island early evening

ISLE OF MAN – MANX EXPLORER 

Thurs 1st May - 7 Days 

The Isle of Man is a unique self-governing kingdom, with its own 

parliament, traditions, culture and cuisine. As a holiday island it is 

best known for its very agreeable and relaxed pace of life, along 

with its wealth of attractions. The Isle of Man offers fabulous 

scenery, enchanting glens, miles of un-crowded beaches, 

medieval castles, Victorian railways and trams, beautiful parks 

and gardens, and fascinating museums and heritage centres. 


Thursday – We head northwards via the motorway network, making regular 

comfort stops en-route arriving at the Holiday inn Preston for our overnight stop 

Friday – After a leisurely morning in Preston we head for Heysham for our 

crossing to Douglas our base for the next five nights 

Saturday – Tuesday At leisure with four included excursions. 

Excursions 

A free day in Douglas with an included ticket on the Isle of Man Steam railway 

from Douglas to Port Erin and return. 

Full Day - Manx Explorer: See the beauty 

and surprising variety of the Manx 

landscape whilst we travel through 

some of the Island’s main towns and 

villages including Laxey, with its famous 

wheel and woollen mill. We also have an 

included Mountain Railway trip to the 

summit of Snaefell with its view of the 

five kingdoms. We then continue to Ramsey 

with free time to explore, before returning 

to Douglas via the mountain road. 

Full Day – Our excursion today takes us 

to the south of the island where we visit 

Castletown, Cregneash and Calf of Man, 

the most Southerly point on the Island. 

Cregneash is a living, working illustration 

of life in a typical 19th century Manx 

upland crofting community. 

A short day excursion to Peel Bay locally 

named ‘Sunset City’, which is located 

on the west coast. Peel is a thriving 

Manx fishing port with a marine 

heritage that spans hundreds of years. 

Wednesday – After breakfast we leave 

Douglas and cross the Irish Sea to 

Heysham, We then travel south making 

regular comfort stops en-route. We 

arrive back on the Island in the evening.

just 10 minutes walk from the Manx

THE BEAUTIFUL LAKE DISTRICT 

Sun 18th May - 5 Days 

The breathtaking scenery of the Lake District encompasses 

beautiful rugged crags, wooded valleys and tranquil lakes. 

Our relaxed itinerary covers the northern lakes and our base 

is the popular and friendly 4 star North Lakes hotel. 


Sunday – We head northwards via the motorway network towards Cumbria. 

Comfort stops will be made en route, arriving in Penrith late afternoon. 

Monday - Wednesday at leisure with three included excursions. 

Excursions 

Full Day – A scenic circular tour of the northern lakes, passing over the 

Kirkstone Pass and through Ambleside and Grasmere. There will be 

time for lunch en-route and we 

return to Penrith via the beautiful 

scenery of Dunmail Raise. 

A Full Day excursion, first stopping 

at the attractive town of Keswick. 

We then travel the short journey 

to Derwentwater to board a boat 

for a relaxing cruise on the lake. 

We return to Penrith town for an 

afternoon tea stop. 

A Full Day scenic tour, first to 

Newby Bridge and then on to 

Coniston Water, scene of Donald 

Campbell’s ill-fated record 

attempt. We then spend time in 

pretty Hawkshead of Beatrix 

Potter fame, before returning to 

the hotel. 

Thursday – We leave the northern 

lakes and return home making regular 

comfort stops en-route. Arriving 

back on the Island early evening.

Mon 2nd June - 5 Days 

Overlooking two sweeping bays, with a busy fishing 

harbour and old town, Scarborough offers a charming 

combination of seafaring traditions, beautifully tended 

gardens and modern entertainment. It is also an excellent 

base from which to explore and enjoy the varied rural 

scenery, rugged coastline and nearby attractions including 

the spectacular Castle Howard. 


Monday – We drive northwards making comfort stops en- route, arriving in 

Scarborough by late afternoon. 

Tuesday to Thursday at leisure 


Excursions 

Full Day – A visit to Castle Howard, 

a beautiful 18th century palace set 

in 1,000 acres. A tour of the stunning 

gardens brings them to life. 

Full Day - With magnificent 

scenery en route as we travel to 

pretty Thornton-le-Dale and then 

through the North Yorkshire Moors 

National Park to visit Goathland, 

better known as ‘Aidensfield’ in 

the popular TV series ‘Heartbeat’. 

Our day concludes with a 

memorable ride on the North 

Yorkshire Moors Railway. 

Half Day – A short tour to Whitby 

with its quaint streets and busy 

fishing harbour and famed for its 

connections with Captain Cook 

and Count Dracula. 

Friday – We make our way home, 

arriving on the Island by early evening

most beautiful valleys of the Alsation side of the Hautes-Vosges Mountains. 

This tour will travel through spectacular scenery and visit delightful medieval

Saturday – We travel to Calais via Eurotunnel 

then passing through the Picardie and the 

Champagne-Ardenne regions, we arrive at 

our overnight hotel, a Novotel, on the outskirts 

of Metz late afternoon. 

Sunday – We travel through the Lorraine region 

to the village of Barr with time here for lunch 

and sightseeing before continuing to Munster 

our base for the next five nights. 

Monday – Thursday at leisure with three 

included excursions.

Full Day - The day commences at the Château de 

Haut-Koenigsburg, with spectacular views over 

the valley and towards Germany. We then continue 

the journey on the Alsace Wine Route stopping 

at the pretty French town of Ribeauvillé with 

ample time for lunch and sightseeing. Then onto 

the colourful regional capital Colmar, a delightful 

town with picturesque half-timbered houses. 

Full Day - A scenic tour to some of the most 

beautiful villages in the Alsace region. First, we 

visit Kientzheim where we have a guided tour of 

the wine museum. We then travel to Kayserberg, 

with time for lunch and finally visit the medieval 

village of Riquewihr. 

A full day tour to Strasbourg where we have a 

guided tour of this magnificent city. We also have 

an included boat cruise of the city on the River Ill. 

Friday – After breakfast, we leave Alsace and 

travel over the Vosges Mountains and into the 

Lorraine region to the historic city of Nancy. We 

arrive at our overnight stop, once again at the 

Novotel, Metz late afternoon. 

Saturday – We leave Metz and head northwards 

to Calais for the Eurotunnel arriving back on the 

Island early evening.

This relaxing itinerary takes in highlights of the lovely 

county of Norfolk including the historic city of Norwich, 

the Bure Valley Railway and a peaceful and relaxing cruise 

through the broads. 


Monday – We head towards 

Norfolk making regular comfort 

stops en-route before arriving at 

Dunston Hall Hotel late afternoon. 

Tuesday - Thursday at leisure 


Excursions 

Full Day - We enjoy a ride on the 

Bure Valley Railway from Alysham 

to Wroxham , the capital of the 

Norfolk Broads. We then spend 

time in Wroxham before travelling 

to Horning to join a Mississippi 

paddle boat for an hour and a half 

cruise around the Broads. 

Full Day - We travel to nearby 

Norwich where we enjoy a guided 

tour on board our coach. You will 

have time for lunch before going to 

Thursford Steam Museum which 

houses the world’s largest collection 

of steam engines and organs. 

Half Day- Today we travel to 

Blickling Hall, garden and park. A 

17th century Jacobean house that 

has fine collections of furniture, 

pictures, books and tapestries. 

The gardens are full of colour 

throughout the year. 

Friday – Today we head home, 

arriving on the Island during the 

early evening.

scenery takes you along the shores of 

Loch Lochy through Glen Garry to Eilean 

Donan Castle for a visit, before crossing 

the Skye Bridge. Your drive on Skye

via the Armadale - Malaig ferry. 

Short Day First to Fort Augustus via the 

Great Glen Way and the Caledonian

here for a cruise on the loch and also

along the shores of Loch Linnhe to The

Saturday – We travel to Calais via Eurotunnel and on to the Mercure Hotel on the

Sunday – Heading south, we pass through the beautiful Alsace region and into

Wednesday – We leave Davos and board 

the spectacular Bernina Express train 

which travels from Davos to Tirano. Enjoy 

the wonderful, panoramic views as the 

train passes glaciers, rushing mountain 

streams and an alpine garden on its descent 

to a land of swaying palms. The journey 

passes through 55 tunnels and over 196 

bridges. The entire trip is narrated. The 

coach will meet the train at Tirano 

and continue the journey to Lake Iseo, 

your base for the next 3 nights. 

Thursday – At leisure in Iseo, with an

Friday – An excursion to Sirmione on Lake 

Garda, one of the oldest towns in the area.

Mon 6th Oct - 5 Days 

On a broad bay of the English Channel, Hythe is one of the five 

original Cinque Ports on the “Garden Coast” of southern Kent. 

A wide promenade overlooks a long stretch of beach and over 

the English Channel to France. It is a level walk from the sea-front 

to the town and a five-minute stroll brings you to the Royal 

Military Canal. This was dug during the Napoleonic era as a 

defensive measure against possible French invasion. 


Monday – We head eastwards via the coast road stopping at Eastbourne for a lunch 

stop. We continue to the enchanting Cinque Port of Rye with its cobbled streets and 

beautifully preserved historic houses. We arrive at our hotel in Hythe by late afternoon. 


Excursions 

Full Day We visit one of best 

preserved medieval towns in England, 

the Cinque port of Sandwich with time 

here for sightseeing before going to 

the Secret Gardens of Sandwich, 

which are encircled by the old stone 

city walls. We finish the day with a 

visit to the seaside resort of Deal. 

Half Day A half day tour to Dover 

Castle, situated above the famous 

White Cliffs. This magnificent castle 

has guarded our shores for 20 

centuries. A guided tour of the 

secret war time tunnels is included.

historic market town of Faversham.

the Shepherd Neame Brewery where

Michael’s Cathedral, before arriving at the historic Grand Place, a market 

square with splendid guild houses 

and an impressive Gothic town 

hall. The rest of the day is at 

leisure before we return to our

home we stop in Ostend, known 

as the ‘Queen of Belgium’s 

seaside resorts’. Ostend gained

the Royal monuments and other

Sunday – A short tour to Leuven Christmas Market which has been

Tuesday – We make our way to Bournemouth travelling via the New Forest and 

stopping at the Beaulieu Motor Museum. Here, Palace House is decorated for 

Christmas, with carol singers and a Yule log fire around which you can enjoy 

a glass of hot punch. We then continue to our hotel arriving mid-afternoon. 

Tea and coffee is served on arrival. After settling in to the hotel we have dinner 

followed by entertainment. 

Christmas Eve – After breakfast we have a short tour of Dorset villages. During the

Agreement and any holiday information provided. Your obligation is to pay the price of the 

holiday you have booked. Our specification of that holiday and our terms are clearly stated below. 

Your contract is entered into with Kardan Travel Holidays Limited. Our current brochure or extracts 

from it are available from our office. While this does not form part of the contract, it does contain 

useful information with which you should make yourself familiar. 

Booking Conditions 

Your contract with Kardan Travel Holidays Ltd. 

1. You pay a deposit 

When you make a booking you are accepting on behalf of all members of your party, the terms of this 

Fair Trading Agreement and you pay a deposit of £50.00 per person, per holiday. 

2. You pay the balance 

The balance payment must be paid by telephone to our coaching office or in person at the 

Southern Vectis Travel Shop, Newport Bus Station between Monday and Friday during the then 

current hours of opening, at least 7 weeks before the holiday departure date. If the balance is not 

paid in time we reserve the right to cancel our holiday, retain your deposit and apply cancellation 

charges set out in paragraph 3. If you book within 7 weeks of departure date you must pay the full 

amount at time of booking. 

3. If you cancel your holiday 

You, or any members of your party, may cancel your holiday at any time provided that the person who 

made the booking makes the cancellation to us in writing. In such event we will apply cancellation 

charges as set out below. The time periods as set out are effective from the first working day on, or 

following the date on which we receive your written cancellation. 

More than 7 weeks before the departure date – full deposit retained. Between 7 weeks and the 

departure date – full price retained. Please see item 8 regarding travel insurance. 

4. If you have a complaint 

If you have a complaint during your holiday please inform, in the first instance, the supplier of the 

service or inform our driver/courier, or representative who will then do their utmost to resolve the 

problem immediately. If the matter cannot be put right on the spot you must notify us in writing 

within 28 days of the completion of your holiday and this must be sent to: Kardan Travel Holidays 

Ltd, 1st Floor, 35A St James Street, Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 1LG, and you must quote your 

booking reference number, holiday title and departure date. Failure to establish your complaint 

immediately in accordance with the above procedure may affect the outcome. 

5. Statutory right 

This brochure is issued subject to applicable Acts of Parliament and Government Regulations and 

the Company reserves the right to modify itineraries to conform with requests from the competent 

authorities in the United Kingdom and any other Sovereign state through which the tours run. 

6. Conditions of carriage 

When you travel on a train or ship the conditions of carriage of that carrier apply and are subject to 

National and International conditions which may limit or exclude liability. Your contract made under 

the terms of this Fair Trading Agreement is subject to English (Scottish) law and jurisdiction. Vehicles 

owned by Kardan Travel Ltd. operate most coach journeys. While we endeavour to provide a coach to 

the specification as set out in our brochure, we do reserve the right to provide a vehicle of a different 

specification if we deem necessary, The Public Service Vehicle (Conduct of Drivers, Conductors and 

Passengers) Regulations as amended 1990, apply to all coaches throughout any holiday in the UK. 

7. Other terms 

On a holiday you may not: 

Bring a pet or any other animal (other than guide dogs in the UK and EIRE only and by arrangement). 

Play a personal electronic device likely to disturb other passengers on the coach. 

Kardan Travel reserves the unconditional right to refuse a booking or terminate a clients holiday 

in the event of unreasonable conduct which in Kardan Travel opinion is likely to cause damage, 

distress, danger or annoyance to other clients, employees, property or any third party. If you 

are prevented from travelling or continuing your holiday by such a termination Kardan Travel’s 

responsibility for your holiday thereupon ceases. Full cancellation charges will apply and Kardan 

Travel will be under no obligation for any refund, compensation or loss which you may incur. You 

are responsible for ensuring that you are at the correct departure point at the correct time and we 

cannot be liable for an loss or expense suffered by passengers because of their late arrival at any 

departure point during the tour. Excursions and admission fees as set out in the relevant brochure 

are included in the price of most holidays and refunds cannot be made for passengers not wishing 

to go on these excursions. 

8. Holiday insurance 

We no longer include holiday insurance, leaving you free to make your own arrangements. Please 

let us have the details of your policy by at least 7 weeks prior to travel. We would respectfully 

remind you that it is a condition of your contract with Kardan Travel that you should take out 

insurance to cover you in the event of illness, personal injury or death prior or during the course 

of your holiday. 

9. Passport 

For all continental holidays, you will require a full 10 year British Passport. If you have doubts about 

your status as a resident British subject or you do not hold a full British Passport, you must check with 

the Embassies or Consulates of the countries to be visited to confirm the passport or visa requirements 

needed in your particular circumstances. We cannot accept responsibility if passengers are not in 

possession of the correct travel documents. 

10. Health 

Under normal circumstances most Western European Countries do not require visitors to be vaccinated. 

However, we will indicate any known vaccination or other health requirements where possible for each 

country to be visited. You are advised to check with your own doctor before travelling. 

11. Your holiday price 

Holiday prices include all coach travel, hotel accommodation, meals, other services and items, as set 

out in the relevant brochure, including VAT at the current rate where applicable. It may be necessary 

to add a small fuel surcharge to the cost of your tour. Should this happen you will be advised at least 

7 weeks prior to departure. Our door-to-door pick up service is only available on the Isle of Wight. 

12. Changes to your holiday 

The arrangements for holidays are made many months in advance and changes are sometimes 

unavoidable. Most of these changes are likely to be minor and our representatives, or we, will 

endeavour to keep you informed. However, where before departure we have to alter significantly 

an essential term of this contract, such as, location or resort, quality of main hotel (not including 

single overnight holidays on touring holidays) or tour itinerary changes involving a destination being 

eliminated, we will endeavour to notify you of the change as soon as possible. 

13. If we cancel your holiday 

It is necessary for there to be a minimum number of passengers in order to operate a holiday. 

If this minimum number is not achieved before the departure date the tour could be cancelled. In 

certain circumstances, therefore, we may have to cancel your holiday and, if this should occur, we will 

return to you all the money you have paid to us, or offer you a suitable alternative. 

If we have to cancel your holiday at any time, Kardan Travel is liable only for any monies you may have 

paid to Kardan Travel at the time of cancellation. 

14. What happens to complaints? 

All complaints that are received are thoroughly investigated and customers are kept informed accordingly. 

Sometimes the investigations can take time when awaiting a response from suppliers. Where we feel it 

appropriate, we can normally agree an amicable settlement if the complaint proves to be justified. 

15. Variation due to other circumstances 

Please remember that some amenities (e.g. hotel lifts, swimming pools etc) require servicing and 

cleaning and may not be available at all times. Some services may be affected by weather conditions 

and their availability is entirely at the discretion of the provider of the service. Entertainment 

(particularly live entertainment) provided by hotels is frequently subject to demand or sufficient 

numbers staying in the hotel. 

Some excursion itineraries include the use of ferries and other forms of transport, which can be 

affected by inclement weather and may have to be cancelled or arrangements changed. Wherever 

possible a suitable alternative excursion will be offered. The published running times of services are 

estimates only and we will not be liable for any loss (howsoever caused) arising from delay or failure 

to operate services in accordance with published timings. 

We may have to vary any aspect of your holiday while it is underway for operational reasons, and we 

reserve the right to do so without necessarily offering any compensation. 

16. Personal injury 

(Whilst participating in arrangements made by us) 

Kardan Travel has taken all reasonable and proper steps to ensure that the proper arrangements have 

been made for all Kardan Travel holidays which are advertised by us, including excursions and that 

the suppliers of all the services are efficient, safe and reputable and that they comply with the local 

and national laws and regulations of the Country in which they provide those services. Whilst we 

have no direct control over the provision of such services to you by the suppliers, we will pay to our 

clients the equivalent of such damages as they would be entitled to under English law in an English 

Court for any personal injury to the client, including illness or death, caused by the failure to perform 

or the improper performance of such service by the servants that are agents of ourselves, or any of 

our suppliers contracted or sub-contracted by us to provide any part of the arrangements for your 

holiday as described in this brochure, where such failure or improper performance was due to the 

fault of such person and not an event which such person could not foresee or forestall, even if all due 

care had been taken. 

NOTE: We will make payments as stated above provided, 

That the claims for personal injury are notified to us within three months of the holiday. 

The injured client(s) assign to Kardan Travel any rights the supplier or other person or party they may 

have relating to the claim. 

Such payments are limited in the case of transport by water to a maximum of such sums as would be 

obtained under the provisions of the appropriate International Conventions. 

This assignment is necessary to enable us to try and recover from suppliers any compensation we have paid 

to clients and associated costs arising from personal injury to clients caused by the faults of those suppliers. 

If we recover more than such compensation and costs any excess will be paid to the injured clients. 

17. Personal injury 

(Unconnected with arrangements made by us) 

Where appropriate and subject to our reasonable discretion we will afford, general assistance to 

clients who through misadventure suffer illness, personal injury or death whilst travelling on a 

Kardan Travel Holiday arising out of an activity which does not form part of the advertised itinerary 

nor part of excursion offered through Kardan Travel and which is the responsibility of a third party. 

18. Luggage allowance 

You are allowed one medium sized case up to 20kg in weight per person. 

Please remember to bring an overnight bag where requested – this is stated in an overlay on your 

holidays image in this brochure. If you are bringing a wheelchair or similar additional large item, 

please inform the office at the time of booking.
