GENERAL INFORMATION<br />

Base Order 1700.17B identifies authorized patrons. It is changed and updated on<br />

a regular basis – please consult the most recent order. Authorized patrons include,<br />

but may not be limited to:<br />

Active Duty Military Personnel<br />

Retired Military Personnel<br />

Members of Reserve Military Components<br />

Foreign Active Duty assigned to U.S. bases<br />

Veterans with 100% Disability<br />

Medal of Honor Recipients<br />

SEASONAL PROCEDURES<br />

SUMMER SEASON: 1 APRIL THROUGH 31 OCTOBER<br />

During the summer season and ALL HOLIDAYS, reservations are made in three (3)<br />

or four (4) day blocks.<br />

OPTION 1 – Friday to Monday (Monday checkout) 3-night stay<br />

OPTION 2 – Monday to Friday (Friday checkout) 4-night stay<br />

OPTION 3 – Monday-to-Monday or Friday-to-Friday; 7-night stay<br />

Check in Time: 1500-2100<br />

Check out Time: Prior to 1000 hours<br />

WINTER SEASON: 1 NOVEMBER THROUGH 31 MARCH<br />

During the winter season, cottage stays may be up to thirty (30) days, subject to<br />

availability. Extensions may be granted upon application to the General Manager.<br />

Consideration will be given to cottage availability and past compliance with beach<br />

rules and regulations.<br />

Check out Time: Prior to 1000 hours<br />

NOTE: Holidays are reserved in four (4) day blocks ONLY.<br />

Length of Stay: Maximum of seven (7) days, subject to availability.<br />

CANCELLATION AND REFUNDS<br />

• Altering reservations that include a holiday will be cancelled.<br />

• Reservations for periods that include holidays are FINAL.<br />

• Reservations are considered final once payment is received. All reservations<br />

will be charged two weeks prior to arrival. A cancellation fee of one night will be<br />

charged if cancelled within the two week period.<br />

CAMPSITES<br />

CAMPSITES ARE PROVIDED FOR OCCASIONAL RECREATION USE,<br />

AND NOT INTENDED AS TEMPORARY OR PERMANENT RESIDENCE.<br />

A camping unit is defined as a licensed vehicle or tent designed for sleeping. A unit may<br />

be a motor home, trailer, truck camper, van, tent or any other vehicle or device designed<br />

for, or capable of, providing shelter for ordinary habitat of one (1) or more persons.<br />

A unit that is not properly licensed, or without current registration, shall not camp at<br />

San Onofre Beach. The reservation price is for one (1) unit only. There will be an<br />

additional fee for units or tents, SUV and/or tent canopies, or any unit used for sleeping.<br />

SEASONAL PROCEDURES - LIMITED STAYS<br />

SUMMER SEASON: 1 APRIL THROUGH 31 OCTOBER<br />

During the summer season, campsite reservations may be made for a period of<br />

(30) Thirty days. (Limited stays may be granted after the initial reservation, subject<br />

to space availability and past compliance with the facility rules and regulations. All<br />

requests must be filed with the Beach Office and the General Manager). Patrons<br />

will be subjected to relocation after thirty (30) days. Maximum reservation shall not<br />

exceed sixty (60) days. Failure to move or relocate for any reason will immediately<br />

void the extension agreement and the patron will leave San Onofre Beach. Upon<br />

the expiration of the extension, the patron shall leave San Onofre Beach for a<br />

minimum of three (3) consecutive days.<br />

WINTER SEASON: 1 NOVEMBER THROUGH 31 MARCH<br />

During the winter season campsite reservations may be made for thirty (30) days.<br />

(Limited stays may be granted after the initial reservation, subject to space availability<br />

and past compliance with the facility rules and regulations. All requests must<br />

be filed with the Beach Office and the General Manager). All limited stay patrons are<br />

required to move at the end of each thirty (30) day period.<br />

NOTE: Holidays are reserved in four (4) day blocks ONLY.<br />

PAYMENT OF FEES AND CHARGES<br />

L IMITATIONS<br />

• Management reserves the right to move patrons and assign all sites as we require to<br />

meet operational requirements. We do not take requests nor will honor requests<br />

for specific site numbers.<br />

• Additional passenger vehicles will park in the Beach Club parking lot adjacent<br />

to the Beach Office. DOD vehicle decals or Parking Passes (issued by the<br />

Office) are required. Passes are required for ALL VEHICLES.<br />

• Maximum of (8) eight persons per site (North <strong>Camp</strong> Excepted).<br />

• All vehicle information must be current and owners must be able to provide<br />

current registration, proof of insurance, and valid military I.D. card, to utilize facilities.<br />

• All vehicles must be in “Move Ready” condition at all times. Patrons may be<br />

responsible for removal, and or, any fee associated with the removal of their<br />

vehicle(s) if non-compliant.<br />

• Vehicles must be self-contained and shall not use utilities from cottage.<br />

• <strong>Camp</strong>ing units may not interfere with other defined parking or passages and<br />

must be within designated camping areas only.<br />

GROUP CAMPING APPLICATION AND PROCEDURES<br />

Group reservation requests for camping are accepted. All requests are to be<br />

filed with the Beach Office and will be subject to space availability. All groups will<br />

require at least one (1) authorized patron to sponsor the group and remain with the<br />

group at all times. Group camping requests may be submitted, no earlier than, nine<br />

(9) weeks prior to the desired date. Group campsite rates & rules are available<br />

through our Group Reservation Office.<br />

UNIT PARTIES<br />

The large Cabanas & Upper Picnic Area at San Onofre Beach are available for Unit<br />

parties on a First Come / First Served basis unless reserved by an Officer, or SNCO<br />

of the Unit, in advance. A “Unit Reservation Form” must be completed, filed and<br />

approved, in advance, by the Beach Office. The responsible Unit member must<br />

remain, at the site, for the duration of the party.<br />

BEACH REGULATIONS<br />

The Beach Area is closed between the hours of 2300 hrs to 0600 hrs. Failure to<br />

comply will be considered trespassing. Leaving personal property on the beach<br />

overnight is prohibited. <strong>MCCS</strong> is not responsible for lost or stolen property.<br />

1. Swimming – Swimming or other water activities are authorized only during Lifeguard<br />

hours of operation, which are posted at the main Lifeguard building.<br />

2. Prohibited Items – Glass, glass containers or wood which contains any metal,<br />

nails, fasteners, staples or treated with any chemical, paint, preservative or<br />

related covering, dogs, vehicles or POV’s.<br />

3. Open Fires – Open fires are not permitted on the beach. Fires are permitted, in<br />

the concrete fire rings provided throughout the beach area, for authorized patrons.<br />

These authorized patrons are responsible for the safety and well being of their<br />

guests, and or children, and should exercise good judgment and caution when<br />

having controlled fires. (See prohibited items above). Fires must be extinguished<br />

by the patron and must be extinguished with water only – the use of sand is<br />

prohibited. Unauthorized fires are cause for immediate eviction.<br />

4. Charcoal Cooking - Charcoal cooking is restricted to charcoal broilers provided<br />

throughout the beach and campground area.<br />

5. Pets – Pets (dogs, cats, etc.) are prohibited on the beach or bathhouses. All pets<br />

must be kept on a leash (6 ft. maximum) or contained in proper or commercial pet<br />

containers. Owners must pickup and properly dispose of feces left by pets. Pets<br />

deemed to be a nuisance (loud continued barking, etc.) shall not be tolerated and<br />

must leave the beach grounds upon proper notification by the Beach Staff. Owners<br />

are fully and legally responsible for the actions and/or damage caused by their pet.<br />

6. Alcoholic Beverages – Alcoholic beverages are prohibited on the beach after sunset.<br />

7. Speed Limit – The speed limit is 10 MPH or safe speed throughout the park.<br />

13. Parking – Only privately owned vehicles with <strong>Camp</strong> <strong>Pendleton</strong> vehicle decals,<br />

other military base vehicle decals, or San Onofre Beach parking passes (available<br />

at the Beach Office) may park in one of the many lots within the beach complex.<br />

No POV’s camping in parking areas. Failure to comply will result in vehicle citation (s)<br />

from the Provost Marshal’s Office and will be towed away at the owner’s expense.<br />

14. Sanitation – Hours: 0800-1600. Dumping of holding tanks, portable tanks,<br />

gray water, or sewage, in any place other than the dumping station, is cause for<br />

immediate eviction without refund. In addition, patron(s) may incur cleanup fees<br />

or fines. The dump station is located, by the Ball field, at the southern end the park.<br />

Violators WILL be reported to the Assistant Chief of Staff for Environmental<br />

Services for disposition. For RV pump out service information, see office.<br />

15. Firearms – All privately owned weapons/firearms brought aboard <strong>Camp</strong> <strong>Pendleton</strong><br />

must be registered at the Provost Marshal’s Office within 24 hours of arrival, or<br />

on the next business day. Written proof of PMO registration must be presented<br />

to the Beach Office. Failure to comply will result in immediate eviction from<br />

cottage,campsite or the beach area.<br />

16. Day Use – A fee will be charged for group day use. (Active duty units excluded).<br />

SHOWER FACILITIES<br />

The Shower facilities are open between 0800 hrs. to 2000 hrs. daily. All facilities may<br />

be closed for cleaning, as required, on a daily basis. Surfboards, body boards, etc.<br />

are prohibited inside the facility. Destruction or vandalism within/or to the building will<br />

be reported to the Provost Marshal’s Office. Sponsors are responsible and liable for<br />

all damages done to base property by their guests or members of their party.<br />

LAUNDROMAT<br />

Coin operated laundry machines are open daily and are located within the<br />

bathhouses. The hours are from 0800 - 2000 hrs.<br />

MISCELLANEOUS<br />

• Children under the age of twelve (12) may not be left alone.<br />

• Skateboards, roller blades, skates, off-road vehicles, scooters, etc. are prohibited.<br />

• Washing of R.V.’s or P.O.V.’s is prohibited.<br />

• Emergencies should be reported to the Beach Office, Park Hosts, Lifeguards<br />

or by dialing “911”.<br />

SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES<br />

<strong>Camp</strong>sites at <strong>Camp</strong> <strong>Pendleton</strong> are for recreational use only. They are not designed<br />

for, nor shall they be used for, full-time residency. Notwithstanding any other limitations.<br />

ALL WHEELS MUST REMAIN ON THE TRAILER. ALL GUESTS MUST HAVE A<br />

REGISTERED VEHICLE ABLE TO TRANSPORT ALL 5TH WHEELS AND<br />

TRAILERS AT ANY TIME. The total length of stay at any or all <strong>MCCS</strong> campsites<br />

shall not exceed six (6) months per year. Failure to comply with Beach Rules or<br />

Procedures will result in immediate eviction without a refund. Eviction from any<br />

<strong>MCCS</strong> <strong>Camp</strong> <strong>Pendleton</strong> <strong>Camp</strong>ing facility will disqualify a patron from all other<br />

<strong>MCCS</strong> <strong>Camp</strong> <strong>Pendleton</strong> <strong>Camp</strong>ing facilities.<br />

Patron use and enjoyment of the <strong>MCCS</strong> San Onofre Beach facilities is a privilege<br />

and not a right. That privilege is conditioned upon Patron’s compliance with MCB<br />

<strong>Camp</strong> <strong>Pendleton</strong> Base Orders, Bulletins, Regulations, and all verbal and written fire,<br />

safety and security directives issued by <strong>MCCS</strong> San Onofre Beach General Manager<br />

and cognizant <strong>MCCS</strong> personnel. Failure to comply will result in immediate termination<br />

of <strong>MCCS</strong> San Onofre Beach patron privileges.<br />

• Cottage should be inspected by maintenance personnel prior to checkout.<br />

Failure to do so, or if checkout occurs during non-working hours, may result in<br />

cleaning or repair charges if the cottage is found to be in disarray, dirty,<br />

damaged, or any condition deemed to be unreasonable (less normal wear).<br />

• NO SMOKING in the cottages. All cottages are Smoke Free.<br />

We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover credit cards.<br />

Declined or invalid Credit Cards/ATM Debit cards will void the reservation. Payment<br />

shall be made in advance in accordance with current policy and may be made<br />

through the mail by personal check (must be received 14 days prior to check-in),<br />

money order, or traveler check. Checks must be payable to <strong>MCCS</strong> ACTIVITY 0140<br />

and must have, imprinted or written, the name, address, and phone number of the<br />

signer. The last four digits of the sponsor’s social security number must also be<br />

printed on the check (Post dated checks will not be accepted). All checks taken as<br />

payment for reservations must be in the requester’s name. Patrons must indicate<br />

location (San Onofre), dates or reservation, and category (i.e., cottage or campsite) on<br />

8. Signs – Signs for advertising items to be sold - “For Sale” signs must receive prior<br />

approval from the General Manager prior to display.<br />

9. Trash and Debris – Trash and debris must be policed and disposed of in a proper<br />

manner. Please utilize the many trash receptacles for that purpose. Littering may be<br />

cause for eviction.<br />

10. Children and Guests – Children and guests must not be left unattended. Day<br />

Use guests must vacate the beach by 2300 hrs.<br />

11. Fishing – Surf fishing is permitted, please consult the Lifeguards for the proper<br />

areas. A California Fishing License and a <strong>Camp</strong> <strong>Pendleton</strong> Base Fishing<br />

License is required. Scuba diving from the shore is prohibited.<br />

12. Quiet Hours – Quiet hours will be observed between 2300 hrs. To 0600 hrs. Loud<br />

talking, music, generators, parties, pets, etc. are prohibited.<br />
