If the child reports a positive difference then say the following:<br />
Say, “Okay, just notice or think about those (repeat the positive emotions<br />
reported by the child) __________ feelings and follow _______<br />
(the <strong>EMDR</strong> helper’s name).”<br />

Do 4 to 6 slow BLS with the finger puppet.<br />
Self-Cuing With Disturbance<br />
Say, “Now, we are going to do this again but this time you are going to<br />
smell the lotion yourself and you are going to take your mind to your<br />
Safe or Happy Place by yourself. Ready?”<br />

Say, “I would like you to think once again about that thing from your<br />
life that is a bit upsetting for you or that makes you have mixed-up<br />
feelings just a little bit. Let me know when you are thinking about<br />
it.”<br />

Wait until the child tells you he is thinking about it.<br />
Say, “Now tell me where you feel the mixed-up or upsetting feelings in<br />
your body?”<br />

Say, “Now, whenever you want, smell and use your _____________ (state<br />
the name of the lotion the child chose) and see what happens.”<br />
