As more and more countries adopt VOC
emission restrictions, waterborne basecoat
systems have become the new keyword in the
industry.
ChemSpec have been hard at work on their new
Hydrolux basecoat system for the past couple
of years, having pre-empted the trend towards
this technology. By entering the market slightly
later than their competitors, they have been able
to add several breakthrough new technologies
into the Hydrolux toners. These new ingredients
have eradicated some of the problems that have
plagued other waterbased brands such as short
shelf-life, temperature sensitivity and the inability
of toners to be exposed to sub-zero temperatures
during storage or transportation.

NEW SWATCHES FOR AUS/NZ CARS

METALUX 2 are proud to launch the new range of NZ / Australian
car colour swatches.
The swatches will be added to the Professional Colour Selector, the
world’s largest colour tool which features over 12,000 actual paint
swatches.
Chemspec has taken into account the most popular local NZ
and Australian manufacturer colours and have produced eight
new fandecks. Manufacturers include Ford Australia, GM Holden,
Mitsubishi Australia and Toyota Australia.

Chemspec is excited to announce another
fantastic innovation within their Metalux 2
range - the launch of six new coloured primers
that can be mixed together to make almost
any colour in the spectrum. These colours are
white, black, red, yellow, blue and green.
Car manufacturers often use pigmented primers
in production, where the primed surface is not
top coated (inside bonnets etc.). The new Metalux
2 coloured primers are therefore perfect for
refinishing these surfaces, as an exact match can
easily be achieved, whilst retaining the integrity
of the original finish.
The new primers feature exceptional performance
with easy sanding and fantastic adhesion to a
variety of surfaces. Rest assured that we have

reference.
We have created a swatch book with over 100
colours which all cross-reference to a colour

NEW POLYPROP FILLER PRIMER FROM METALUX 2

Eliminating the recoating window period for plastic primers.
Chemspec is proud to announce the launch of
a dynamic new Polyprop Filler Primer that will
change the way you look at plastic primers.
Ordinary polyprop primers are an adhesion
promoter for plastic surfaces. However, the
problem many spray painters have with this type
of product is that they have a window period
in which the surface has to be recoated with a
normal Filler Primer before being sprayed with
either 2K enamel or basecoat after 10 minutes
but within 45 minutes.

performs similarly to conventional
primers and allows either wet-onwet
overcoating or overcoating after
air-dry or oven curing. It also boasts
excellent filling properties.”

NEW DEGREASER NOW AVAILABLE

Chemspec is proud to announce the launch of
a new degreaser to be added to the Metalux 2
range, PrepWipe.
PrepWipe is more efficient and offers better
performance than its predecessor; PreKleen.
With a slower evaporation time, PrepWipe offers
the spray painter more time to degrease surfaces
properly.
According to Chemspec Technical Director, Ralton
Bentley, the decision to develop and produce a
more efficient degreaser was taken at a recent
international conference. “It was clear to us that
there exists a gap in the market for a degreaser
that offers the spray painter a little more time to
do the job properly,” he says.
