Keys to Improving How
Your Child Studies
Make sure they have a homework plan –
They should make sure they understand the assignment before they leave
school.
Encourage them to write the assignments down in their planners.
They need to learn to gauge how long will it take to complete the
assignment.
Help them to make smart decisions about where they work.
Get to work! Whatever time is their designated study time, have them tell
their friends not to call or text while working.
Remind them to skip a problem they don’t know and come back to it;
staring at it for an hour won’t help.
Allow them to take a break when necessary; 15 minutes for every hour is
acceptable.
Encourage them to get help when needed; i.e., ask a parent or friend, attend
power hour or get lunchtime help.
