There was an exception to this for children in the pilot study who
received early year‘s education in high quality settings. They performed
somewhat better at age five than those children who attended low or
adequate quality settings as part of the pilot
No evidence that attending early years education as part of the pilot at
age two increased the likelihood of those children attending early years
education at age three or four, with the exception of black and ethnic
minority children who took part in the pilot. This group were more likely
to attend early education at the ages of three and four.

The Department for Education (DfE) has published the results of a study into

CHILDCARE COSTS SURVEY SHOWS RISING COSTS
The Daycare Trust and the Family and Parenting Institute has published the
annual Childcare Costs Survey 2013. The report gathered information about
childcare availability and costs in Britain from the local authority Family
Information Services and also analyses differences in childcare provision
across regions and nations. Key findings from the report include:
The average nursery cost for a child under two has risen by 4.2% to
£106.38 per week for a part-time place (25 hours). A full-time place
costs £11,000 for a year
Costs for over-twos have gone up by 6.6% to an average of £103.96
per week for a part-time place
Childminder costs in Britain have increased by 5.9% for a child under
two, to £98.15 and 5.2%, to £96.67 for a child aged two and over
