President’s Message
Dear Benedict College Supporter:
On behalf of our students, faculty, staff and administration, I thank you for supporting Benedict
College during the 2006-2007 Annual Giving Campaign. Last year’s, unrestricted gifts totaled
$1,957,477 and $9,282,770 in programmatic Grants and Contracts.
I commend the support of our dedicated alumni, across the nation who continues to meet and
exceed their Annual Alumni Goals. In 2007, our alumni reported a total $787,860. Fourteen years
ago, when I first arrived on Benedict’s campus, the alumni contributed approximately $264,000.
Today, the alumni have more than tripled their support. We greatly appreciate the increased
involvement of our alumni in their classes and clubs. However, we need to encourage all nonparticipating
alumni to help. The support of our alumni is needed more than ever to meet the
greater challenges of today.
Our corporate constituents reported $132,289 in 2007. We continue to applaud our corporate and
business neighbors for supporting our endeavors and our Charter Day Scholarship Awards Dinner
continues to be one of the College’s most successful fundraising events.
Our church constituency contributed $339,198. The faculty and staff contributed
$62,521. Individuals along with groups and organizations contributed $24,726.
The College Fund /UNCF campaign contributed $141,482. We appreciate all of
your support as the challenges of providing the resources to maintain a quality
institution grows tougher each year.
When I was named the 13th president of this great institution, I became committed
to making Benedict College the “Best College in its Class”. I have been determined
to ensure quality programs in every area, from academics to athletics.
You will be proud to know we are succeeding in our quest to become the best, in
every area. As I complete my fourteenth year as president of this fine institution, I
am committed more than ever to creating opportunities for our students and our
community to meet the challenges of an ever-changing global society.
