BROOKLYN INDUSTRIES LAUNCHES ITS FALL 2010 COLLECTION
COLLECTION INSPIRED BY 19 TH CENTURY WORKWEAR, THE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION,
AND NEW YORK CITY IMMIGRATION
Key Designs Include Outerwear for Women and Men, Dresses, Vests, Pants and Sweaters
Brooklyn Industries has launched its Fall 2010 collection with workwear designs inspired by
19 th century New York City. For the fall, Brooklyn Industries looked to Ellis Island and the
industrial revolution for inspiration, using tougher fabrics and military styling and muted
colors for outerwear, shirts, dresses, vests, pants and sweaters. The utilitarian look for fall
was photographed by CEO Lexy Funk in Brooklyn, New York, under both the Brooklyn and
Manhattan Bridge, on streets with cobblestone and against brick and stone backdrops.
Highlights from the women’s Fall 2010 collection include the Compass Toggle Coat, the
Jeanne Beaded Shift, Troupe Vest, Grand Snap Fleece, Atlas Pointe Blazer and Ether
Bomber.
Available in three colors, the Compass Toggle Coat ($178) has a 100% wool exterior and is
fully lined. Details include faux-horn toggle closure, faux gunflap detailing, deep side
pockets, pop-colored quilted plaid lining and a full hood.
The Jeanne Beaded Shift ($128) is a slimming, fun workwear design with a boat neck collar,
stud detailing, an exposed back zipper, and is fully lined with pockets.
BKI’s military inspired Troupe Vest ($78) has a fashion edge and pairs well with pants and a
plain or graphic t-shirt, as styled in our latest campaign. Details include tank styling, binded
grosgrain seams, a tuxedo-like hem and double-breasted brass buttons.
A great alternative to a lightweight jacket this fall, the Grand Snap Fleece ($78) has
asymmetrical snap detailing, cozy side pockets, an exaggerated collar and speckled
heathered fabric. It’s a soft cotton blend available in two colors.
The vintage-inspired Atlas Ponte Blazer ($88) has a workwear look with details such as twobutton
closure, classic blazer pockets, buttons on the cuffs and a fully lined interior. It’s a
cotton blend available in black and navy.
BKI’s motorcycle-inspired cropped jacket, the Ether Bomber ($178) also converts to a vest.
Details include luxe herringbone tweed fabric, silk lining, interior back vent, snap closed
pockets, covered zipper pockets, zip off sleeves and contrast sweater detailing on cuffs and
collar.
Highlights from the men’s Fall 2010 collection include the Antler Jacket, Cardigan Hoodie,
Special V-Neck, Super Soft Crew and Modus Jacket.
The Antler Jacket ($138) is the perfect, lightweight, water resistant jacket for the summer
to fall transition. Features on this military-inspired design include breathable mesh lining, a
water resistant nylon shell, exterior utility pockets with contrast flaps, a full zipper front
with fold over button placket for added wind resistance, hidden draw string hood in collar,
an interior chest pocket, and a removable self belt.
To create its soft 100% cotton fabric, the Cardigan Hoodie ($88) has been treated with a
special yarn dye technique to create texture. This style has great unisex appeal with details
such as unstained wood buttons, slash side pockets, a drawstring hood and horizontal stripe
design.
At the perfect price point, the Special V-Neck sweater ($58) is a lightweight must-have for
fall. This design features a plated technique where two colors of yarn are woven together to
create a striated look. Details include exposed seems, and ribbed cuffs, collar and waist
hem. It’s 100% cotton and available in three autumn colors.
BKI’s Super Soft Crew ($68) was developed through a special washing process to create an
ultra soft, smooth fabric. The slit pockets are at the hip to keep this crewneck from getting
too bulky. Paired with a plaid shirt and denim, it’s a great cover-up that is available in
heathered blue and heathered olive.
The slimming Draper Pant ($92) is 100% custom plaid cotton that looks great when paired
with a BKI sweater, a button down shirt and suspenders. Details include slit pockets, and
grosgrain interior waist tape.
