WWelcome to St. Joan of Arc School, a nationally
recognized Blue Ribbon School of Excellence that

Our school is accredited by the Middle States
Association of Colleges and Schools, follows the
New York State Curriculum, and has incorporated
the Common Core State Standard s .
In addition to offering a rigorous curriculum,
we produce well-rounded students that value
their Catholic faith and enjoy art, music, and
e x t r a c u rricular activities. We take great pride
in our diverse student body and incorporate
cultural studies into our curr i c u l u m .
Our students take New York State tests in Math,
ELA, Science, and Social Studies, and earn competitive
scores that exceed the State, City, and
Diocesan averages.
Eighth Grade students are accepted to outstanding
Catholic and public high schools including Regis,
Loyola, Xavier, The Mary Lewis Academy, Notre
Dame, St.Francis Prep, St.M a ry ’s in Manhasset,
Holy Cross, Cristo Rey New York, St.Vi n c e n t
F e rre r, LaSalle, St.Agnes, and Cathedral Pre p ,
Stuyvesant, Brooklyn Tech, the Bronx School
of Science, and Townsend Harr i s .
Nearly $454,000 in scholarships have been
a w a rded to our 8th Grade students to enable
them to attend Catholic high schools.

Our Academic Program
At Saint Joan of Arc, we have high academic
expectations for our students and provide them
with the tools to succeed.
• For students needing academic assistance, we
offer a Resource Room/Learning Center every
day during the school day, and Title I services in
Math and Reading after school.
• We use Mathletics, a web-based math resource
that students can access online at home and
school.
• The school is wired for Internet, many classrooms
feature SMART Boards, we have a laptop
program, and students take computer classes in
our technology lab.

participate in Religion classes, Masses,

We offer a variety of programs and extra-curr i c u l a r
activities that address the needs of the whole child.
• Our doors open at 7:45 am and school
begins at 8 am.
• We offer an Extended Day Program until 7 pm
to accommodate working parents.
• Spanish classes are offered after school for
students in Grades 1-8.
• Students develop leadership skills by org a n i z i n g
student-driven community service pro j e c t s .
• Students participate in the Science Fair, Talent
Show, Christmas Nativity, Spelling Bees, and
Class Trips.
• The Parish Youth Council offers basketball,
baseball, soccer, track, chess, and an art club.
• We incorporate components of the Olweus
Bullying Prevention Program.
