<strong>JOB</strong> <strong>DESCRIPTION</strong><br />
• As a progressive Championship Football Club we are looking for an exceptional individual to<br />
take responsibility for the physical preparation and development of our academy players aged<br />
from 9-18 yrs.<br />
• You must be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of the needs and<br />
development of young footballers and have a successful track record in formulating and<br />
delivering individual and squad based strength and conditioning programs for the relevant age<br />
groups.<br />
• A degree in Sports Science or a related area, plus a UK Strength and Conditioning accreditation<br />
( or ability to achieve within 12 months), which should be combined with at least three years<br />
experience in the provision of strength and conditioning services.<br />
• Previous football experience is preferable but not essential.<br />
<strong>JOB</strong> LOCATION<br />
• The normal place of work during the day is at the CPFC Training Ground located in Beckenham,<br />
Kent. The Academy age groups U9’s-U16’s train at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre in<br />
the evenings and this will also form part of your working week.<br />
SALARY<br />
• Salary range is £22-25,000 dependant on experience and qualifications<br />

KEY REPONSIBILITIES<br />
Strategies<br />
• Plan and lead the Strength and Conditioning development of players aged 9-18.<br />
• Embrace the club philosophy of Injury prevention. Lead and undertake Functional Movement<br />
Screening of all Scholars and selected associated players. Prescribe individual exercise<br />
programs in response to results of the FMS to limit injury occurrence.<br />
• Design and implement age appropriate resistance training programmes.<br />
• Provide daily (HR monitoring), monthly (loading & intensity analysis), and yearly (audit)<br />
performance reviews highlighting the progress of the development strategy.<br />
• Organise In-Service/ training evenings in coordination with the Academy Manager to<br />
develop an understanding of integrating physical development into practice.<br />
• In consultation with the Physiotherapist, lead coach education programs to all part-time<br />
coaching staff on the clubs principles of training.<br />
• To work closely with key members of the coaching staff to ensure that intensity and loading<br />
of all training sessions off season, pres-season, and in season, with or without the ball is<br />
relevant and correct.<br />
• Integrate a programme of fitness testing, in line with 1 st team protocols, at regular intervals<br />
throughout the football calendar. Provide feedback to staff and players including guidelines<br />
relating to improvement and development.<br />
• Control and monitor all anthropometric measurements to include: Body fat%, Body weight,<br />
Standing height, leg length, hydration status and provide feedback and strategies<br />
dependant upon results.<br />
Service delivery<br />
• Work with the Academy coaches, Medical department, Head Strength and Conditioning<br />
Coach, Performance Analyst and the 1 st team staff to create a seamless, integrated, support<br />
service, which positively impacts on the footballer’s performance.<br />
• Create and manage the development of a CPFC brochure to promote the physiological,<br />
neuromuscular and nutritional development of all players at the club. Ensure that this<br />
booklet is continually reviewed and prepares all players for a smooth transition from<br />
Academy Football to professional football as a CPFC player.<br />
• Oversee the establishment of agreed testing, protocols, procedures and delivery systems<br />
throughout the Academy, in close liaison with the club’s head Strength and Conditioning<br />
coach.<br />
• Work closely with medical Leads in the delivery of a proactive health and injury<br />
management system that includes functions for monitoring injury prevention and<br />
rehabilitation programmes<br />
