St James’s Gate Brewery is a key site within the Europe Beer division of Global Beer Supply,
Diageo plc. The St James’s Gate vision is to be the supplier of choice within Diageo Global
Supply and to be one of the most admired breweries in the world.
Diageo has committed to a new development, including a state of the art Brewhouse, at the
St James’s Gate site. This role is an exciting opportunity to gain experience in the operation
of an industry which is vibrant with current investing developments.
The Role reports to Wally Norris, Health & Safety Manager, St James’s Gate Site. This role is
a unique opportunity to gain invaluable experience in Health and Safety project
management.
Responsibilities
The Supply Chain function is working to continuously improve occupational health and
safety standards including compliance to Diageo Risk Management Standards and statutory
legislation are key focus areas within our strategic plan
Build / rebuild of task and specific Risk Assessments, including engaging cross
functional teams to achieve compliance.
Supporting the development and implementation of global best practice Zero Harm
tools and processes and risk management standards
Promote, coordinate, and facilitate the active exchange of best practices,
procedures, lessons learned, and other pertinent information on safety across the
SJG site
Development of project plans to deliver
Work actively with stakeholder groups to build capabilities and share learnings
Support the site Health & Safety Management Programmes
Support site‐wide H&S audits
Qualifications
The role holder should possess a primary or secondary degree in a Science / Engineering
discipline.

Experience
Possession of industrial experience in operations environments with Health & Safety and
exposure to the following areas would be advantageous:
Management influencing of key stakeholders
Systems & procedures implementation
Auditing
Risk assessment techniques
Project management
Skills/Knowledge
Good understanding of risk assessment, auditing and incident investigation
processes.
Should have strong analytical, problem solving and auditing skills.
Should possess effective engagement, communication, presentation and facilitation
skills.
Demonstrates proven project management skills.
The individual must be computer literate able to challenge and influence others in an
objective and constructive manner
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite of programs, particularly EXCEL and
PowerPoint
Good report writing and presentation skills
Strong organisational ability with good attention to detail
Ability to work on own initiative
Ability to work under pressure
We foresee this internship opportunity commencing in April, however it is also open to
Final Year students and will last for 12months
