NANGARHAR PROVINCE<br />

Cultivati<strong>on</strong><br />

An increase in cultivati<strong>on</strong> was reported in Nangarhar province. Whilst farmers in central Nangarhar<br />

follow the eradicati<strong>on</strong> campaign <strong>and</strong> observe the Government ban, farmers in remote districts<br />

disregard the ban <strong>and</strong> are already cultivating opium poppy <strong>on</strong> a significant scale.<br />

No eradicati<strong>on</strong> was reported until the end of December 2005.<br />

expected in remote areas of the province.<br />
